Mining and Metals:
Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead the development of environmental systems, applications, and procedures for a project. You will lead investigations, conduct complex environmental engineering studies, prepare remediation plans, and evaluate proposed regulations. You will research and develop new technologies and practices and recommend solutions to improve the environmental impact of engineering projects.
Major Responsibilities:
- Planning, developing, coordinating and reviewing environmental engineering work on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit. Developing environmental systems, applications, and procedures.
- Conducting complex environmental engineering studies and prepares environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permits. Leading complex investigations and prepares remediation work plans and reports.
- Communicating complex technical issues and recommending solutions to upper management.
- Researching and developing new technologies and practices to improve the environmental impact of engineering projects.
- Monitoring pollution prevention activities and leads the design of processes to effectively treat waste.
- Preparing or overseeing the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
- Interpreting new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
- Working with industrial health experts to ensure a safe work environment.
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations and keeps abreast of new environmental engineering policies and technologies.
- Mentoring environmental engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes, such as Mastery of the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) and applicable sectoral regulations, knowledge of Sectoral Environmental Permits (PAS).
- Handle technical tools such as GIS, AutoCAD and modeling software.
- Experience in environmental assessment, waste management and impact control.
- Knowledge in technical and engineering aspects.
- Communication, coordination and audit skills to ensure compliance and sustainability.
- Intermediate English.
- Experience in Closure and Solid Waste Projects.
- Experience as a Discipline leader (At least 5 years).
