Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s electrical engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project’s electrical engineering aspects are met.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Planning and conducting independent electrical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.
  • Leading the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
  • Communicating complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
  • Developing conceptual designs for electrical engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
  • Supporting preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.
  • Preparing or overseeing the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
  • Interpreting new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
  • Coordinating with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of electrical aspects of the work.
  • Mentoring electrical engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
  • Providing input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computer applications within the Electrical engineering discipline. 
  • Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods and of precedents in the Electrical discipline and principles and practices of inter-related disciplines. 
  • Knowledge of related construction practices and the associated costs. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the discipline.  
  • Experience in design, procurement, construction, commissioning or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities or process plants is desirable.  
  • Relevant work experience in FEED, proposal & detailed engineering preferably in an EPC/EPCM industry for large industrial mining plants, power projects, utilities, oil and gas plants.  
  • Experience leading a medium to large electrical group as part of a larger multidiscipline team.
