Job Summary:
In this role, you will use 2-D/3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop designs for electrical engineering such as earthwork, drainage, road design, and foundation. You will help construct detailed scale models, develop work plans, and review drawings for quality, accuracy, and completion. Your collaboration across disciplines will coordinate compliance and quality in the overall project design.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”.
Major Responsibilities:
- Developing designs for complete and complex Electrical engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed.
- Assisting in constructing detailed scale models.
- When working in a lead-role, assigning tasks to best use the knowledge, experience, and capabilities of less experienced Electrical designers/drafters assigned.
- Ensuring compliance with approved Electrical design standards, installation codes, and regulations in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design.
- Reviewing and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by assigned designers/drafters for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion.
- Participating in constructability reviews.
- Possessing responsibility for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline.
- Working with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements.
- Developing work plans, budgets, and schedules for basic Electrical designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in designated discipline.
- Generating 2D drawings or 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models of high complexity with minimal guidance from others.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides, procedures and codes relevant to the electrical discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidiscipline team for EPC/EPCM projects.
- Proficient in electrical discipline with the ability to resolve a wide range of issues.
- Microstation and/or AutoCAD as well as 3D modelling (S3D) skills are essential.
- Knowledge of electrical design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
- Intermediate English level (desirable).
