Project Overview:

Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

In this position, you will lead a team to manage cost engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis/control, forecasting, and planning/scheduling activities for a project that requires technical skill and expertise. You will provide leadership, oversight, guidance, training, and mentoring to your team on key project procedures and risk management to ensure successful project execution and delivery.

Major Responsibilities:

• Managing cost engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis/control, and planning/scheduling activities for a project, or for discipline/project/proposal estimating or staff planning activities that requires a high degree of technical skill and experience.
• Developing the preparation and presentation of project/program estimates and cost forecasts.
• Supporting project/program organizational and administrative activities.
• Providing generally non-routine cost engineering/planning and scheduling guidance.
• Identifying and providing innovative solutions to cost engineering and planning/scheduling problems.
• Reviewing Earned Revenue Determination Data, Proposal Financial Summaries, Project Financial Status Reports, and Charge for Project Working Capital calculations for assigned project/program.
• Reviewing contract drafts for adequacy of cost and scope definition and Project Controls requirements.
• Coordinating development of all data in support of negotiations.
• Providing oversight, training, mentoring, and ensures capability of Project Risk Coordinator(s) and Project Risk Specialist(s) in conducting PERM activities towards the attainment of project objectives.
• Providing leadership in terms of integrating the risk management process with other key project procedures (e.g., Change Management, Forecasting, Cost, Trends, and Claims and support corporate.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a degree or Master's degree (or international equivalent) from a career relevant to the execution of projects or Engineering and 13-15 years of experience in relevant positions related to Project Control in the mining industry, and at least 5 years (demonstrable) of experience in positions similar to the one applied for (PCM) or17-19 years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum experience of 7 years of execution of projects specifically in the construction phase (from the start of construction to delivery to operations).

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Desirable: Have previous experience in Bechtel (at least 2 years).
• Proficiency in the English language.
• Have been leading project control teams for at least 7 years.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of a project's development stages, execution phases and execution strategies.
• Apart from mastering the cost control of a project, you must be able to work in the field of planning, estimates and in the financial and result aspect of the execution of projects and engineering services for mining.
• Must possess negotiation skills, presentation skills and the ability to interact with different disciplines involved in the execution of a project (Engineering, Purchasing and Construction).
