Project Overview:
Mining and Metals:
Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.
Major Responsibilities:
- Performing generally non-routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
- Coordinating the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports.
- Coordinating the development and accuracy of cost reports.
- Verifying consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency.
- Preparing specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
- Investigating the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data.
- Collecting and classifying cost data.
- Performing budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines.
- Identifying cost trends for management attention.
- Preparing cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- 5 to 8 years of experience controlling the progress and performance of engineering using the common tools of the industry (Excel, P6, MS Planner, etc).
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in reporting, internal and with the client.
- Ability to generate dashboards and curve charts that executably communicate the status of engineering progress with respect to the plan or baseline.
- Experience in direct work with Engineering, demonstrate soft and hard skills available for the purpose of reflecting and anticipating the status of engineering work on the project.
- Demonstrate knowledge in the engineering development sequences for mining projects, "fragets" etc.
- Clear knowledge of the scope of each engineering discipline in the process of designing a mining project, knowledge of the interaction with the other disciplines, such as Acquisitions, Contracts and fundamentally Construction.
