Ujina Growth Project:

The mining area is located 185 km southeast of Iquique, at 4,400 meters above sea level, in Tarapacá Region. The main objective of Doña Inés de Collahuasi’s project is to increase the concentrator’s throughput capacity from an average of 170 ktpd to 210 ktpd. Currently, the awarded service corresponds to the execution of Package PG1 - the first of three packages contemplated for this project - which involves the detailed engineering and procurement (EP) of six flotation cells, and on-site support during the construction phase. Service for package PG1, which began on August 1, 2023, is a continuation of the study phase (FEL3) and is expected to be completed in February 2025.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will use 2-D/3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop designs for control systems engineering such as instrument´s location, wiring, installation details, etc. You will help construct detailed scale models, develop work plans, and review drawings for quality, accuracy, and completion. Your collaboration across disciplines will coordinate compliance and quality in the overall project design.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring compliance with approved Control Systems design standards, applicable installation codes, and regulations in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design​.
  • Reviewing and checking calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by assigned designers/drafters for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion​.
  • Possessing responsibility for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline​.
  • Working with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements​. 
  • Generating 2D drawings or 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models of high complexity with minimal guidance from others.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires technical or bachelor's degree related to the position and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of 2D designs with Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk Autocad. 
  • Knowledge of 3D designs with Intergraph SmartPlant 3D.
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Office (word, excel, visio, etc). 
  • Knowledge of SPI (Intergraph Smart Plant Instrumentation) - desirable. 
  • English level: basic-intermediate.
