Position Summary

Bechtel has a newly created role for a Control & Instrumentation Engineer in Chile. Reporting to the Control & Instrumentation Engineering Group Supervisor, we are looking for an experienced Engineer to prepare design documentation, prepare procurement and contracting requisitions.



  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard control systems engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications

  • Interprets and applies industry codes & standards and customer design requirements in the preparation of Control Systems design products

  • Assists in mark ups for Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and Logic Diagrams for control and instrumentation requirements

  • Contributes to maintaining the project’s instrument database using automated tools and has knowledge of the applicability of the information to be populated in the instrument database

  • Collaborates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines

  • Provides technical assistance to other control systems personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards

  • Troubleshoots components and circuitry to suggest and implement solutions

  • Conducts feasibility assessments and performs failure analysis studies to ensure design performs as expected

Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2 - 4 years of relevant experience or 6 - 8 years of relevant work experience

  • Possesses either a recognized degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering from an accredited college or university, OR a professional license in a related field from a recognized licensing board


Additional Qualifications

  •  Advanced understanding of PLC Control Systems and SCADA software

  •  Advanced understanding of plant control communication networks

  •  Advanced understanding of mine and process plant radio networks

  •  Ability to apply project procedures in the preparation of all deliverables

  •  Ability to monitor and work closely within budgets and schedules
