Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in subcontract formation and/or administration. Subcontract formation includes leading preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contracts operating procedures. Subcontract administration includes continual progress review, forecasting, and communication of difficulties. Your work will ensure subcontract compliance with project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Managing assigned subcontracts maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties.
  • Coordinating with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, subcontract management and other major matters.
  • Managing complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement.
  • Representing Bechtel in contractual discussions of moderate complexity.
  • Leading preparation of bid request packages, addenda, and other bid cycle correspondence to ensure proper format, content and project requirements are met.
  • Reviewing bid tabulations for accuracy, bidder recommendation, completeness, and approves selection of suppliers within delegated approval authority.
  • Reviewing and recommends bid selections that require higher approval authority.
  • Executing commitments within delegated signing authority.
  • Developing, monitoring, and maintaining project master contracts forms, including legal and commercial terms and conditions to be included in the project contracts documents. 
  • Directing negotiations and preparing proposed negotiating plan in the commitment and resolution of commercial conditions of contracts when such action is agreed as necessary by the designated supervisor. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree related to the position, and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to establish and implement subcontract formation, administration, delivery, and quality programs, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of legal frameworks, commercial terms, and financial considerations in subcontracting and procurement.
  • Knowledge of risk and insurance provisions, claim preparation, and resolution strategies in coordination with legal and claims teams.
  • Expertise in supplier and contract negotiations, scenario planning, and contingency strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with engineering, construction, project controls, and finance.
  • Clear and effective communication with internal teams and external partners, including report distribution and stakeholder engagement, considering customer-based leadership.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Unifier, EBS) and digital tools for procurement and subcontract management and MS Office applications.
