Project Overview:
Mining and Metals:
Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will participate in subcontract formation and/or administration. Subcontract formation includes leading preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contracts operating procedures. Subcontract administration includes continual progress review, forecasting, and communication of difficulties. Your work will ensure subcontract compliance with project requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Participating with the project team on a small to medium sized project in defining and developing the scope of Contracts work, and in preparing and coordinating Contracts plans, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets.
- Preparing and/or directing preparation of commercial terms and conditions for use on project contract documents, ensuring that requirements of the prime contract are incorporated.
- Participating in the development of the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule and the division of responsibility.
- Coordinating Contract execution plan with Engineering and Construction plans and operations to ensure that input from these disciplines will enable Contracts to perform its functions in accordance with project plans.
- Reviewing evaluations with global business unit functional managers and the global business unit Manager of Supply Chain.
- Managing the Subcontract for a contract of low to medium risk or complexity.
- Providing functional direction and/or supervision to all assigned subcontracts personnel and monitors operations to ensure all activities are performed in accordance with project requirements and applicable directives, management instruction, procedures, and functional guidelines.
- Developing and implementing the subcontracting strategy for assigned project or office, incl. development and translation of the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule into a specific working contracting plan.
- Reviewing bid tabulations for accuracy, bidder recommendation, completeness, and approving selection of bidders within delegated approval authority.
- Ensuring all commitments made by subordinate personnel are accurately presented and follow established approval and signing authorities contained in company policies and procedures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Previous experience in the role on major projects.
- Experience in the formation of contracts of greater complexity in all phases of bidding.
- Current or previous experience at Bechtel.
- Ability to draft and/or review contract terms and conditions and project procedures.
- Flexibility to adapt to workload and priorities.
- Ability to meet demanding work deadlines.
- Organization in documentation and record keeping.
- MS Office domain.
