Bechtel is seeking a Contract Claims Manager for M&M team based in Chile. The role manages the contracts claims for a project from the early execution phase through completion. Functional scope includes collection and analysis of Contract Change Request and potential claims, development of contracts claims negotiation strategies, coordination with Project Management and Customer of claims negotiation strategies and the implementation. Receives supervision directly from the Contract Manager and receives technical and functional guidance from the responsible Project Manager and from the Manager of Contracts. Provides technical and commercial guidance to the contracts administrators and other personnel in the performance of claims tasks as determined with Project Management. Have continous contact with other Functional Managers,  Legal and Risk Management to obtain and provide information regarding claims issues and cutomer representatives and contracting company managers.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Monitor the changes log of all contracts with special focus in the major construction contracts, considering contract and changes risks, pricing, scope, and schedule.
  2. Attend to regular contracts meetings and specific meetings related to changes, potential changes and claims.
  3. Provide support to the Contract Manager in the identification and management of potential claims, risks, and to develop a risk mitigation plan.
  4. Provide ongoing guidance in the change and claims management of contract administrators to the Contract Manager and key members of the project team to ensure alignment in claims avoidance and negotiations strategies, as required.
  5. Direct support to the Contract Manager, Project Management and customer for the preparation and negotiation of contracts’ claims as well as the resolution of constructive

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
  • At least 10 to 15 years minimum of demonstrated experience in pricing, contract law, negotiation of change orders and claims.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Technical and administrative knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting practices, commercial regulations and practices, Bechtel policies, procedures and work practices.
  • Possesses extensive experience and knowledge of commercial and claims management functions and work experience of a progressively responsible nature in contracts or projects of considerable technical and commercial complexity.
  • Demonstrated capability to prepare and make effective presentations to customers, line managers, Project Managers and project teams.

 

Salary will be based on current market rates and the posted grade will not be adjusted to suit the successful candidate
