Project Overview:

The increased production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind pipelines to batteries. This shift towards clean energy — and the need for basic products — is fundamental to sustain the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support zero emissions in a more sustainable way than ever before.

Job Summary:

This role, you will be responsible for participating in the training and/or administration of subcontracts. Subcontract training includes leading the preparation and review of bid request packages and the development of project contract operating procedures. The administration of (sub)contracts includes the continuous review of progress, forecasting and communication of difficulties. Your work will ensure compliance of the (sub)contracts with the project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

Management of (Sub)contracts

  • Implementing the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule that records the agreed Project assignment of various subcontract management tasks and the Standard Work Process Procedures applicable to the Management of (Sub)contracts.
  • Managing assigned (Sub)contracts by maintaining a continuous review of progress and providing management with information on projected financial or technical difficulties.
  • Coordinating with designated personnel operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, performance of subcontracts and other important matters.
  • Managing moderately complex contractual changes by negotiating with the client's staff and obtaining an agreement.
  • Communicating information programs to ensure mutual understanding of the terms and conditions of (sub)contracts and prepare periodic status reports for management.

Formation of Subcontracts

  • Leading the negotiation in the commitment of (sub)contracts, conform, ensure the execution of the (sub)contracts and prepare subcontracting documents for their execution.
  • Preparing bidder lists, pre-qualify bidders and coordinate the bidders' questions and the answers to those questions.
  • Form requesting for bids packages, issue requesting for bids packages to approved bidders, recommending and securing approvals in accordance with established procedures and receive, evaluating commercial bids and preparing commercial bid summaries and recommendations.
  • Preparing and organizing assigned meetings, such as pre-tender, tender clarification and pre-award meetings, in order to ensure a complete understanding and agreement between Bechtel, the client and the contractor on all contractual matters.
  • After reviewing the plan and agenda with the supervisor, conduct the meeting, preparing and issue meeting notes outlining important statements, requiring actions and schedules.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication, management and teamwork skills.
  • Drafting and negotiation of contracts, changes.
  • Be able to prepare, review and negotiate the terms of contracts.
  • Orientation to detail.
  • Knowledge of legal structures, commercial terms and financial considerations in procurement and contracts.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of management tools (Oracle-DSCS, Primavera-Unifier) and other
  • Knowledge of risk and insurance provisions, claims preparation and resolution strategies, in coordination with legal and claims teams.
  • Prepares periodic reports for management.
