Job Duties:

The Compensation Specialist will be a part of People Operations, a global shared service. This role will be responsible for execution of compensation programs in the countries/functions/projects assigned according to the organizational needs of the company and as advised by the Americas Total Rewards Manager.


Detailed responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Researching, assembling and evaluating information or data regarding industry best practices or legislative changes pertaining to compensation programs
  • Ensuring internal equity, external competitiveness, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and organizational policies
  • Identifying and participating in compensation benchmarking surveys, interacting with the partnering consulting organizations, providing recommendations for maintaining Bechtel’s competitive positioning
  • Executing annual total compensation planning which includes (but is not limited to): system configurations and testing, providing day to day support to planning managers on the tools and guidelines, assisting planning managers with completing actions, partnering with HR business partners in finalizing plans
  • Advising management on the application/intent of compensation policies and procedures, providing guidance or suggestions on resolving complex problems
  • Analysing employee data & information and maintaining working files according to required confidentiality/privacy standards and best practices
  • Partnering with the Talent Acquisition team/business partners/hiring managers to review/recommend salaries for offers as needed


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field with a minimum of 5 years of related HR experience OR 9 years of overall related experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 3 years compensation experience, both managing the annual total compensation planning for an organization/project/function and conducting benchmarking/market surveys
  • Experience working closely with international team(s)
  • Ability to speak bilingually in both Spanish and English is required


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and prior experience working with HRIS systems, specifically SAP and SuccessFactors
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.) 
  • Data analytics skills
  • Experience training and presenting to large groups
  • Possess service mindset and ability to build strong relationships
  • Ability to exercise initiative and make decisions with little or no supervision and be accountable for such actions
  • Ability to work in a high-volume transaction environment
  • Proactive, flexible, and adaptive to changing priorities
  • Strong understanding of continuous improvement and measurement processes
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
