Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP):
Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America’s largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will perform purchasing and expediting duties, including bidder prequalification, developing bid lists, bid solicitation, bid analyses, negotiation, and commitment of purchase orders. You will administer purchase orders following commitments, solicit and evaluate budgetary quote requests to support project estimates. Your initiative and corrective actions will help ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Performing expediting activities on a project, in a support office, or at a jobsite to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs.
- Contacting suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment.
- Interpreting production schedules and progress reports to ensure they are realistic, that required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained.
- Coordinating with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences and required delivery dates and instructs suppliers accordingly.
- Expediting Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers.
- Participating in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates.
- Coordinating shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a University Hire of Science in Project and Supply Chain Management (or international equivalent), Business Administration, Civil or Industrial Engineering, and 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge and experience in all phases of purchase order formation including bidder prequalification, preparation of bidder’s lists, compilation of bid requests, negotiation of terms and conditions, award.
- Knowledge and experience in purchase order administration include change management, monitoring supplier performance, backcharge procedures, and the resolution of claims and disputes.
- Knowledge and experience of Uniform Commercial Code or applicable commercial legislation, law, negotiations, accounting, cost engineering, internal commercial conditions gained through education or experience.
- Skill in working and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with other project functional groups, such as Engineering, Construction, Project Management, other functional groups, and subcontractors.
- Advance English and Spanish level; proficiency in oral and written for a professional communication.
