Project Overview:

Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Business Development LATAM Sector lead for the Latin America public infrastructure market, based in the Latin American region. The candidate will be a key member in a fast-expanding team, as Bechtel builds a presence in the public infrastructure market across Latin America.

As part of the Business Development team, you will be responsible for building the Public Infrastructure Business Line’s presence in Latin America. Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and recommending prospective new work including judicious market development and sustainable market penetration.  Major focus on development of a stakeholder engagement plan and ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders (including C-Suite level contacts and senior members of the Government and relevant State agencies). Coordinates with Functions and Sector Leads in formulating strategy; and Establishes and maintains customer relationships and judicious teaming partner relationships.  

Willingness to travel frequently but not for extended periods to engage directly with customers is required.

 

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining personal relationships with key contacts, customer organizations, strategic vendors, and partners.
  • Connecting Bechtel to the marketplace. Keeping active externally in industry groups & civic organizations.
  • Keeping informed of customers' present and future plans for growth, projects, and programmatic and technical requirements.
  • Demonstrating—using personal knowledge, supplemented by other Bechtel personnel—how Bechtel and help customers achieve their objectives.
  • Developing bid and proposal strategies.
  • Maintaining an active network of potential teaming partners and key suppliers.
  • Developing and implements win plan recommendations.
  • Keeping aware of the business development activity and strategy of competitors, including their pricing trends and approaches.
  • Preparing and manages proposal budgets; Sets the story line for proposals and actively manages their development.
  • Understanding commercial models for contract execution and how to best position Bechtel for success.
  • Remaining active in the customer relationship into execution.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience. Prior Bechtel experience required. Prior Bechtel and Finance experience required.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Prior Government / public sector engagement preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills including: English and Spanish verbal and written skills.
  • Customer Engagement: Own and develop deep customer relationships; serve as the trusted advisor and primary point of contact. Act as the internal voice of the customer, providing insights across the full client organization. Demonstrate strong listening, communication, and emotional intelligence to build trust and influence stakeholders. Understand customer needs, buying behaviors, and decision drivers to shape strategic opportunities.
  • Performance Excellence: Apply strong market, industry, and competitor knowledge to identify and position winning opportunities. Think strategically about where to play and how to win; drive pursuit strategies to secure work. Lead outcome-driven planning by connecting complex inputs into actionable strategies. Demonstrate commercial, financial, and legal acumen, including contracting models, risk allocation, and funding approaches. Leverage project experience and organizational knowledge to develop competitive solutions. Maintain a strong results orientation, competitive mindset, and focus on defining and delivering a “good deal.” Anticipate risks and challenges proactively and develop mitigation strategies.
