Ujina Growth Project:

The mining area is located 185 km southeast of Iquique, at 4,400 meters above sea level, in Tarapacá Region. The main objective of Doña Inés de Collahuasi’s project is to increase the concentrator’s throughput capacity from an average of 170 ktpd to 210 ktpd. Currently, the awarded service corresponds to the execution of Package PG1 - the first of three packages contemplated for this project - which involves the detailed engineering and procurement (EP) of six flotation cells, and on-site support during the construction phase. Service for package PG1, which began on August 1, 2023, is a continuation of the study phase (FEL3) and is expected to be completed in February 2025.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead the development of automation tools, templates, and workflows according to the project automation plan. You will customize applications and reports, review test plans and performance curves, and manage output data. Your recommendations will ensure applications comply with engineering work-process and that project requirements align with the availability of data. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Establishing  and administrating select Engineering applications on the project, includes, but is not limited to P&ID, SmartPlant3D, Compass, Agile etc.​ Implementing the engineering automation tools in accordance with the project automation plan, designing/developing workflows, forms, and templates for automation tools.​ 
  • Coordinating with construction, procurement, project controls and other departments to establish automated data transfer between applications​. 
  • Understanding reporting requirements for each application and configures reports accordingly​; Ensuring reports are accurate reflections of the data and are functioning as intended​. 
  • Collating performance curves, metrics, trackers, and user feedback to show trends, and use in improvements​. 
  • Reviewing output data and prepares engineering report with direction from Engineering Group Supervisors and Project Engineering Manager. 
  • Providing training and technical support of the suite of Engineering Automation applications, to field engineering, supervision, administration, project controls and other site personnel. 
  • Evaluating and coordinating the implementation of new automation modules and tools​, testing and supporting data integration of new releases of production software/programs​. 
  • Customizing applications as required by project​. 
  • Preparing user guides and training material and delivers training​. 
  • Recommending adjustments in coordination with the Engineering Group Supervisors and Project Engineering Manager. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience​.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and external vendors.
  • Experience managing MicroStation, Smart 3D and Navisworks.
  • Configuration of S3D, establishment of drawing styles and MTOs, generation of reports and configuration of the system to produce 3D models for the federated model of the project.
  • Knowledge and experience applying BIM methodology in EPC projects.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware and operating systems, including system architectures, network infrastructures, client-server principles, backup, recovery and storage policies and procedures, as well as disaster prevention and recovery planning and implementation.
  • Knowledge of SQL/ORACLE/, desirable skills in SmartPlant suite products (SPPID/SPEL/SPI/SPPID).
  • Knowledge in .net programming tools and programming languages.
  • General knowledge of engineering design and work processes is considered useful.
  • Knowledge in CAD application: MicroStation or similar Knowledge in the Smart 3D application.
  • Experience in technical assistance/support to groups of people.
  • Knowledge in administration and use of Databases (SQL) and Programming languages (.net, Python).
  • Experience in the EPC project industry.
