Job Summary:

Development and deployment of robotic automation solutions including programming, system integration, and testing. Duties involve applications for megaprojects and construction industries, such as Freeways and Airports, Refineries and Mining Sites, Chip Fabricating Units and Datacenters, Oil and Gas plants, etc., as well as supporting system integration of mechanical, electrical, civil, and control subsystems. The engineer will report at the Bechtel India Chennai Office, to the Robotics In-charge, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions on time.

Major Responsibilities:

Supervision Received:

  • Receives technical and administrative supervision from the Robotics Lead and project leads.

Supervision Exercised:

  • None. May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, or interns performing design support assignments.

Contacts:

  • Maintains regular contact with the immediate project team and interfaces with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, and quality engineering. Additionally, engages with leading system houses and robotics suppliers to support integration efforts.
  • Collaborates with academic institutions and leading universities to explore research partnerships and innovation opportunities in robotics.
  • Programs and configures industrial robots for construction applications
  • Supports system integration includes mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems
  • Assists in design and implementation of control systems and electrical panels
  • Apply principles of machine learning to improve process efficiency
  • Troubleshoot robotic applications and provide process optimization support
  • Reviews technical documentation and ensures compliance with safety standards
  • Coordinates assigned work with other technical personnel as directed
  • Prepares technical reports, manuals, and training documentation
  • Participates in and fosters a work environment built on teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Travel to system integrators during the concept checking period and then travel to the Bechtel job sites after the maturity of the use case is attained for its deployment and commissioning

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires 4-year bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, or Automation or a related field, or M. Tech with specialization in Robotics or Artificial Intelligence from a reputed institute with 3-8 years of experience in robotics engineering, industrial automation, or related fields.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in robot programming languages like C++, Python, JAVA, MATLAB for algorithm development and simulation
  • Expertise in Robot Operating System (ROS) such as control, perception, planning, localization, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), reinforcement learning and SWARM Intelligence
  • Familiarity with automation applications, PLCs, and control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and good communication skills.
  • Ability to think laterally, that is having a mindset to develop new applications and solutions to increase efficiency of work at site
