Project Overview:

New Murabba Project Infrastructure” which will be built around the concept of sustainability, featuring green areas and walking and cycling paths that will enhance the quality of life by promoting healthy, active lifestyles and community activities. It will also feature an iconic museum, a technology and design university, a multipurpose immersive theater, and more than 80 entertainment and culture venues.

The project will be situated at the intersection of King Salman and King Khalid roads to the North West of Riyadh, over an area of 19 square kilometers, to accommodate hundreds of thousands of residents. The project will offer more than 25 million sqm of floor area, featuring more than 104,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms, and more than 980,000 sqm of retail space, as well as 1.4 million sqm of office space, 620,000 sqm of leisure assets, and 1.8 million sqm of space dedicated to community facilities.

The New Murabba project will offer a unique living, working and entertainment experience within a 15-minute walking radius and will have its own internal transport system. It will be approximately 20-minutes' drive from the airport.

Job Summary:

Reporting to The Construction Director. the Traffic & Logistics Director will be responsible for leading the development of the project-wide construction & site logistics and coordinate review and integration of the logistics plans and needs of the Mukaab PMC and the Vertical Assets PMC.

This position will update and issue site wide Logistics plans as appropriate. Also responsible for analyzing the local and regional conditions to determine supply and demand requirements given the schedule and mix of assets, materials and equipment, labor and specialty contractors. Position is responsible for providing recommendations to offset any issues identified. Will be responsible to develop, review and continuously update the traffic and construction access management plans as soon as the intended locations and routings are defined.

Jointly with procurement, schedule and project stakeholders, the Logistics Director will be responsible to determine individual integrated logistics plans for the Project, including laydown space, storage areas for equipment and materials, site access and haul routes, borrow pits, excess material and waste disposal, fabrication yards, personnel access, parking, field offices, temporary buildings, welfare facilities and other facilities require for successful execution of the project

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervises team of Site Logistics Engineers; Site Logistics Representatives and Data analysts
     
  • Responsible for planning and compliance monitoring of logistics operations in the context of the judicious objectives for the assigned project(s), including movements of construction materials, fuels, equipment, people, waste
  • Collaborates across PMC’s and geographic regions on the project and to optimize logistics service provisions and facilities
  • Understands the contract and project wide requirements for logistics within the construction contracts and updates RFP and Employer Requirements to consider logistic requirements and interface
  • Develop project execution strategy for construction indirects and logistics such as job-hour and craft requirements, temporary water and power demand, truck movements, etc.
  • Planning and monitoring of contractor’s onsite supply chain logistics including planning unusual movements, organizing exceptional customs clearance via Murabba government affairs and monitoring effectiveness of contractor supply chain logistics
  • Develops Scope of Work, budget, contract packaging and other commercial documents required to implement logistics provisions via service providers or contractors
  • Helps the Land Acquisition and Use Permit process for new land plot requirements between PMCs and EPMO or changes to existing land plot requirements to meet project priorities
  • Develops a strategy for access gate locations, haul roads and personnel movement across contracts
  • Configuration management of logistics facilities and services, taking actions where existing plans are found to be ineffective or in need of improvement
  • Helps the Project Management Team to achieve their construction delivery and health, safety and environmental/sustainability objectives through the sound implementation of logistics planning
  • Provides reports and advertises presentations to management relating to existing, emerging or changing logistics planning

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognized bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent)
  • 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant experience in similar logistics planning and management role, preferably with Contractor or PMC Experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • 15+ years of experience in logistics planning and management role, preferably with Contractor or PMC Experience.
  • Experience of construction and project logistics on large urban infrastructure projects or large civil engineering projects is required
  • Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the Client, Contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred Experience of working and living in camp locations
