Project Overview:
Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. As we consider the future of aviation globally and in the GCC, we are very enthusiastic about the future of aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We are currently considering candidates with aviation, other transportation or complex public accessible building project experience to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh should it be awarded to Bechtel. This posting serves as an expression of interest only.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, self-driven and detail-oriented green building certification specialist to support the airport project’s sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with targets of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and other selected sustainable building certification requirements. Candidate will collaborate with other functions within the integrated delivery partner, lead designer, other design consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to guide projects through the LEED certification process and will report to Project Sustainability Director.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise on LEED certification and assist the client with the development of the requirements and standards.
- Participate in Client working groups or similar meetings regarding sustainability goals, implementation and interface.
- Work with architects, engineers, and construction teams to integrate LEED requirements into project design, bid documents and construction contractor submittals & perform compliance review.
- Perform review of materials for LEED compliance.
- Assist customer in inspecting and monitoring the overall construction process and manage all relevant documents for LEED and other sustainability certification rating systems.
- Provide orientation of contractors and review site construction practices for adherence to LEED credit requirements. Conduct assessments and audits of contractors’ sustainability performance metrics, such as energy efficiency, water usage, and construction indoor environmental quality.
- Assemble and maintain LEED-related documentation, and report on progress status metrics as directed by Client.
- Stay up-to-date on industry regulations, sustainability trends, and LEED rating system updates.
- Educate project teams and stakeholders on sustainable building practices and LEED compliance strategies.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- LEED Accredited Professional (BD+C) required.
- Experience managing large and complex LEED certification projects on the scale of large airport terminals or campus environment.
- Strong understanding of sustainable design, energy efficiency, and green building codes.
- Proficiency in LEED Online, energy modeling software and life cycle assessment software.
- Excellent communication, project management, listening and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Additional certifications such as WELL AP, Mostadam AP.
- Knowledge of LEED Transit, LEED Communities/Campus and other sustainability rating systems.
- Experience with building performance simulations and other sustainability analysis tools.
