Project Overview:

The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village. The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah Riyadh highway.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will work directly with the customer Permitting manager to identify all Permit requirements to support successful project execution and coordinate stakeholder engagement with project personnel, regulatory and government agencies to facilitate required approvals. #LI-AR2

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, implements, and maintains the project permitting and stakeholder engagement registers to track deliverables against project schedule. 
  • Serves as a technical expert for the project, on permitting requirements and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Monitors and facilitates progress of permitting deliverables consistent with strategies, goals, measurements, and reporting standards
  • Coordinates with and provides technical assistance to other project functional leads (e.g., procurement, construction, planners, project controls) with regards to developing project-specific permitting requirements to ensure any commitments are integrated fully and appropriately.
  • Anticipates and manages issues, with particular emphasis on issues that have, or have the potential to, impact the constructability of the project and/or project reputation.
  • Provides strategic advice for the project to manage the implementation of permitting and stakeholder requirements ensuring alignment with the project social and environmental performance commitments and strategy.
  • Provides strategic advice to project teams on potential impacts, expectations, and related implications; assesses consequences of project decisions; and works with project functional teams to develop proactive solutions to community and environmental issues to minimize external risks and manage public expectations.
  • Leads community engagement and consultation in partnership with the customer.
  • Supports ongoing understanding of national and regional priorities and plans and keeps abreast of legislative developments, stakeholder interests and concerns, and other influential trends.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

The successful candidate will have established relationships with key regulatory and agency stakeholders and relevant experience in securing major project permits in Kingdom. Being fluent in Arabic and English language is also a key requirement for the role.
