Project Overview:
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and support material planning and/or material coordination for a project. Planning involves providing work process and system expertise during the early project stages. Coordination will include communicating material availability, accuracy, and timeliness to the correct location. Your team will ensure the location receives the required materials to complete the project. #LI-AR2
Major Responsibilities:
- Reviews the initial master schedule, detailed timing and sequence of each functional group, and actual progress of each group to confirm that materials meet required delivery dates. Reviews any schedule revisions for impacts and participates in the development of contingency planning.
- Ensures adherence to the project execution plan and that key activities are performed in the right sequence.
- Coordinates the project plan for identifying major equipment and bulk materials with Engineering. Identifies what information can be imported from Engineering programs, and that tag numbers are compatible with the automation program fields.
- Ensures that items on the equipment list have been identified for requisition and purchase, and that requisition issue dates support project detail schedules. Monitors Engineering progress in the preparation and issuance of material requisitions.
- Issues the material responsibility matrix to reflect the agreed division of functional responsibilities for material activities among project, support, and field offices.
- Interfaces between Construction and Procurement to identify, requisition and establish delivery dates for material requirements resulting from design changes, rework, contingency/work arounds, scope changes, or materials missed in Engineering take-offs.
- Monitors Procurement reports and activities to ensure that purchasing and expediting are working effectively to maintain milestone schedule dates.
- Reviews plans at the jobsite for adequacy of material warehousing, maintenance, control and handling. Ensures efficiency of all material issue to Construction.
- Coordinates with Construction and Field Procurement the plans for material identification, material availability in support of installation plans, and equipment requiring special handling at the site.
- Formulates specialized training and career development programs necessary to assure that all assigned material management personnel are properly trained and qualified.
- May prepare annual reviews regarding performance for assigned Material Planners and Coordinators.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of work hour estimates and organisational charts for the project and obtains management approval. Establishes long-range personnel requirements and coordinates timely staffing of positions. Monitors personnel utilization throughout the duration of the project.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of all procurement operations related to the management of materials at area, regional, temporary and jobsite office locations.
- Advanced knowledge in Field Engineering and Construction activities, and knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures related to materials management functions.
- Advanced knowledge of all Engineering disciplines, the work process and the deliverables produced.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable Bechtel policies, instructions, and Procurement procedures and guidelines.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in the use of the Digital Supply Chain System (DSCS), SiteSense and related engineering and other project data systems that interface with DSCS.
- Prior experience in major global, direct hire and contract management projects, which include Engineering, Procurement and materials control activities.
