Project Overview
Job Summary:
In this role, the Logistics Manager will be responsible for developing and overseeing the project construction site logistics and traffic management activities. This includes coordinating and integrating logistics plans, updating and issuing logistics plans as needed, and analyzing local and regional conditions to determine supply and demand requirements based on project schedules, asset mixes, and resource needs.
Proactively identify and recommend solutions for potential logistical challenges and mitigate the risks minimizing commercial impacts to the project. Lead and develop, review, and continuously update traffic and construction access management plans. In collaboration with procurement and project stakeholders, will develop and implement integrated logistics plans for the project, encompassing laydown areas, storage, site access and haul routes, material sourcing and disposal, fabrication yards, personnel access, parking, and all necessary support facilities to ensure successful project execution
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervises a team comprising Site Logistics Engineers and Site Logistics coordinators.
- Oversees the planning and compliance monitoring of logistics operations for assigned projects, including the movement of construction materials, fuel, equipment, personnel, and waste, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Collaborates with PMC teams and across geographic regions to optimise logistics service delivery and facility utilisation throughout the project.
- Interprets contract and project requirements related to logistics within construction contracts, updating RFPs and Employer Requirements to address logistical needs and interface considerations.
- Develops comprehensive project execution strategies for construction indirects and logistics, encompassing job-hour and craft requirements, demand for temporary water and power, truck movements, and more.
- Prepares Scope of Work, budgets, contract packages, and other commercial documentation necessary for implementing logistics provisions through service providers or contractors.
- Formulates plans for access gate locations, haul roads, and personnel movement across various contracts.
- Manages configuration of logistics facilities and services, identifying and addressing areas requiring enhancement or adjustment to improve effectiveness.
- Supports the Project Management Team in achieving construction delivery and health, safety, and environmental/sustainability targets through rigorous logistics planning.
- Provides detailed reports and presents logistics planning updates to management, highlighting existing conditions as well as emerging or evolving requirements.
- Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive working environment among clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Consistently upholds industry-leading safety standards and maintains a safe working environment at all times.
- Exhibits effective communication skills essential for motivating team members and delivering plans in a clear and succinct manner.
- Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving capabilities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience in similar logistics planning and management role, preferably with Contractor or PMC Experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience of construction and project logistics on large urban infrastructure projects or large civil engineering projects is required.
- Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the Client, Contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred Experience of working and living in camp locations
