Project Overview:
Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. As we consider the future of aviation globally and in the GCC, we are very enthusiastic about the future of aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
We are currently considering candidates with aviation, other transportation or complex public accessible building project experience to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh should it be awarded to Bechtel. This posting serves as an expression of interest only.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Lead will be responsible for overseeing the planning and compliance monitoring of logistics operations for the assigned projects, which includes movements of construction materials, fuels, equipment, people, waste etc.
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for activities related to construction logistics with oversight of operations performed by main work construction contractors
- Plan and oversee the contractor logistics operations including efficient movement of construction materials, fuels, equipment, people, and waste, ensure compliance and provide escalation actions in the areas of improvement
- Ensure that the project team is fully aware of construction logistics activities
- Understands the contract requirements for logistics within the construction contracts
- Ensure that logistics operations do not cause delay or any damage to the works, the workforce or the public
- Ensure that the plans and procedures related to construction logistics such as Traffic & Logistics Plan are in place, and ensure their compliance including strict adherence to project ES&H plans, local and national regulatory codes
- Supporting the construction and the delivery teams to achieve their construction delivery objectives through sound management and communication of integrated logistics planning
- Understands the overall site logistics requirements for each contractor and facilitates coordination between contractors and other stakeholders
- Ensure that the logistics plan produced by contractors are compatible and aligned with the project requirements
- Planning and monitoring of contractor logistics, unusual movements, organizing exceptional customs clearance via Client’s government affairs
- Advise, report, and advertise presentations to the team relating to existing, emerging or changing logistics planning
- Attend review meetings with client, schedule meetings with internal team and contractors, ensure logistics is represented at site meetings, prepare reports, and ensure its distribution
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Grade 25: Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Grade 26: Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H).
- Should be familiar with local codes, International Codes & Safety Standards.
- Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
- Experience working overseas, either on management consultant and /or Direct Hire Contract with preference to projects in the Middle East.
- Self-motivated individual with good skills and experience and the ability to influence without authority.
- Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities.
