Project Overview:

Spanning over 14 million square meters of land, the New Murabba development is planned as a premier modern downtown destination in Riyadh. It is envisioned to deliver an exceptional blend of leisure, retail, entertainment and residential experiences, while supporting the Royal Commission for Riyadh City’s goal of establishing Riyadh among the world’s top ten cities. The project aligns with key priorities such as economic growth fostering advancements in technology, innovation and creativity.

Bechtel’s role at the New Murabba development is Early Works, Infrastructure and Public Realm. The Early Works involves the initial set up on the project, from fencing, offices to logistics and construction indirect. The infrastructure work covers earthworks, expressways, roads, metro, power, water, sewage, district cooling, irrigation, automated waste collection, telecommunications and all other utilities required for the city to function smoothly. As for the expansive areas of Public Realm, it’s inclusive of all the landscaping, hardscaping, water features, lighting and public art.
 

 

Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Logistics Planner that will be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to support the New Murabba project. This position will be responsible for performing construction Logistics responsibilities of major complexity in support of project requirements. The role requires coordination and optimization of end-to-end logistics operations, with a primary focus on constructions logistics management responsibilities. The candidate must have a proven track record of successfully coordinating complex logistics activities with excellent communication, analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective logistics processes.
 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of integrated and phased logistics plans, including but not limited to, people movement, material movement, land allocation, site layout planning, site operations and abnormal load planning, to meet the overall construction schedule and project requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective transportation strategies tailored to the unique requirements of construction projects.
  • Management and coordination of the logistics land allocation process to ensure the timely processing of all applications.
  • Track and monitor all logistics land allocations to ensure permit conditions are meet and allocations are accurately captured within the project reporting systems.
  • Proactively identify potential logistical challenges and implement solutions to mitigate project risks.
  • Utilize forecasting tools and historical data to predict demand trends and plan logistics operations accordingly.
  • Collaborating with project teams and contractors to address interface issues and optimize performance to exceed project goals.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (project managers, Contracts, etc.) and external stakeholders (EPCM, etc.) to integrate logistics plans into overall project plans and monitor progress.
  • Assists in preparation of logistics reports or performance metrics as required to satisfy project information requirements. Ensures project operations are consistent with well-established and clear project requirements.
  • Streamline and enhance end-to-end logistics processes to improve lead times and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Assists with preparation of logistics studies.  
  • Assists the project Logistics lead as requested.
  • Integrate safety requirements and measures in all Logistics activities. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Logistics, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 8 to 11 years of relevant experience or 12 to 14 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Field, construction logistics management and deployed project experience preferred.  
  • Experience with project design and planning systems.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and site dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of construction logistics regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in using forecast planning systems and construction project management software.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency and can work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.  
  • A seasoned, experienced professional who demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Ability to network with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise. 
  • Able to identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
  • Experience using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
