Project Overview:

Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. As we consider the future of aviation globally and in the GCC, we are very enthusiastic about the future of aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

We are currently considering candidates with aviation, other transportation or complex public accessible building project experience to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh.

Job Summary:

Health & Safety Coordinator helps the implementation of ESH management programs, systems and processes; provides the technical oversight of the environment, safety and health activities; and provides the overall support for a specific area to be successful in controlling the risk of harm to people, property and the environment. #LI-AR2

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides assistance in a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of Bechtel's ES&H program and ES&H Management System to include aiding compliance with Bechtel's ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities.
  • Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.
  • Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to help identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement. 
  • Helps identify and coordinate any unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel.
  • Leads teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues.
  • Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention. 
  • Assists with incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports.
  • Recommends and implements improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential.
  • Participates in and supports employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
  • Supports ES&H recognition programs.
  • Research issues and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Provides support to ES&H field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H disciplines.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous work experience within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the middle east

  • Capable of working in a diverse team generating a collaborate work culture to support the wider project team.

  • Candidates will be familiar with undertaking focused inspections, assessments, audits as required by the Project ES&H Director and or delegated Terminal HSE Manager.

  • Leadership skills to enable a team to be successful - coach, mentor, participate, direct Attributes that openly display ESH as a personal value.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, targets and objectives Knowledge of ES&H management systems.

  • Knowledge of national and international safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ regulatory requirements and responsibilities, industry standards/current practices for safety/health, and best management practices for minimizing potential safety/health risks during project execution.

  • Knowledge of construction systems, methods, and work processes. Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risks and the mechanisms to mitigate them.

  • Skilled in oral and written communication, in English.
