Project Overview:

Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. As we consider the future of aviation globally and in the GCC, we are very enthusiastic about the future of aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

We are currently considering candidates with aviation, other transportation or complex public accessible building project experience to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will integrate environmental requirements into large-scale project planning documents, permit applications, design criteria, construction plans, schedules, and subcontract documents. You will provide input on bid decisions, identify new approaches, conduct inspections, and participate in emergency response. Your work will help reduce adverse environmental impacts of Bechtel projects.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement and maintain Environmental Management Plan complying with ISO 14001 requirements
  • Ensure the Project Environmental Program is aligned and executed in alignment with the Project Execution Plan (PEP) Co-ordinate / manage other stakeholders/departments to ensure they maintain their relevant sections of the overall elements of the Plan Deliver Sustainably Management training where required
  • Manage the project site environmental program on a day-to-day basis Conduct regular field inspections and audits of construction activities for compliance with existing permits and approvals of client standards and all applicable environmental regulations
  • Develop, implement and deliver Environmental Leadership and Environmental Awareness Training for construction and client contractor representatives and prepare training materials
  • Distribute appropriate environmental information to client contractors and their subcontractors and monitor their compliance
  • Ensure that appropriate environmental conditions and requirements are included in all tender packages
  • Prepare an environmental compliance summary regularly for distribution and review by the Project Management and the construction team
  • Provide guidance on best practices in construction in relation to environmental protection to client contractors at start-up and through the life of individual projects as they evolve
  • Capable of apply international standards to the local context to provide solutions to environmental aspects  

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Level 1 Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental sciences, field biology, or natural resources and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​
  • Level 2 Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental sciences, field biology, or natural resources and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of national and international environmental laws/regulations and regulatory/resource agencies’ permitting processes and responsibilities, industry standards for environmental compliance, and best management practices for minimizing potential environmental impacts during project execution

  • Knowledge of engineering and construction systems, methods, and work processes

  • Knowledge of construction planning and execution

  • Experience in environmental monitoring and compliance inspection during construction Knowledge of hazardous materials and waste management, erosion and sediment control methods, mitigation and impact assessment

  • Self-motivated individual with good leadership skills and experience and the ability to influence without authority

  • Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders to make critical decisions where required

  • Able to communicate effectively when delivering presentations to diverse groups from senior managers to workers in the field, cognizant of the different learning abilities to ensure key messages are effectively received
