Job Summary:
The Design Manager will be responsible for managing the design for Landscape and Public Realm Elements associated with development of the EXPO 2030. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating the design scope and integration of work assigned to subcontracted design entities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Perform review of conceptual and detailed landscape architectural designs for sustainable land design and development, including plant materials, irrigation, water conservation, soil amendments, hardscape, drainage, healthy ecosystems, sustainability and cultural influences.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary design reviews and work with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver the project to budget and program.
- Review submittals at each phase of design development for compliance with required codes and standards, EXPO 2030 project standards, environmental health and safety requirements, constructability, technical soundness, and contractual obligations.
- Manage the delivery phase of the landscape elements of projects working closely with the client and subcontracted design entities to manage the project through design development, tender and construction phases which may include contract management, administration, and Handover.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity takeoffs and change orders.
- Provide the technical input to meet landscape procurement requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A recognized Bachelor's/Master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited college or university with a minimum experience of 12 to 15 years
- Minimum 10 years’ of progressive practical work experience in Infrastructure landscaping projects with a focus on design and construction.
- Professional license from a recognized landscape architecture licensing board.
- SITES and/or LEED Accredited Professional or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in the KSA and MENA region and a sound understanding of the cultural norms and requirements of the region.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Broad knowledge of all phases of Architectural and landscape engineering, field activities, production techniques, and construction methods for development of various work areas.
- Understands technical issues and cost related to selection of design features and unique engineering design requirements for landscaping.
- Creative and analytical skills necessary to design and built a natural environment
- Ability to integrate requirements and best practices for conservation, water use, environmental stewardship, and public safety
- Knowledge of work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating. Leads formal and informal 3D model reviews. Manages design workflows and monitors discipline productivity with BIM platform is required.
- Technical skills and proficiencies in both standard and specialist computer programs such as: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Infraworks, Navisworks, Adobe Photoshop, Sketchup, 3DSMax, Adobe InDesign, PowerPoint, Land FX, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Broad knowledge of environmental compliance laws and requirements.
- Broad knowledge of government compliance standards.
- Broad knowledge of the regulatory standards for landscaping.
- Experienced with integrating sustainability rating requirements into the design and construction to achieve sustainable landscape certification for projects.
- Candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This will include a high level of written, verbal & presentation abilities.
- Strong English language communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to prepare clear judicious land scaping procedures and user-friendly templates to assist entities in undertaking forward the landscaping work.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a team player and have a knowledge sharing approach.
