Project Overview
Job Summary:
In this role, you will report to the Senior Civil & Structural Engineer and assist with supervising and managing the work of the customer’s designers and contractors in the delivery of design for the airport terminal buildings civil and structural design including earthworks, substructures, superstructures and secondary structures such as curtain wall, lift shafts, risers etc. You will prepare estimates, work plans, progress reports and assist with the tender, evaluation and award recommendations for the civil & structural contractor(s).
You will coordinate and collaborate with other teams such as the Terminal Delivery teams, Stakeholder Management, Contracts & Procurement and Start-up/Commissioning as required through all stages of the Project life cycle. Your technical expertise and coordination will ensure outcomes meet customer and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervision and management of the customer’s designers and contractors in the delivery of terminal buildings civil and structures design.
- Review of technical submissions from designers and contractors relating to civil & structural design works.
- Support to Contracts & Procurement in the delivery of design to support procurement and post tender technical evaluation and award recommendations.
- Monitoring & reporting on the progress and performance of the customer’s designers and contractors.
- Coordination with the Stakeholder Management team to ensure that all required permits and approvals are achieved in a timely manner throughout the Project life cycle.
- Support to Construction & Quality delivery teams during the execution of the works relating to terminal buildings civil & structural works, including resolution of requests for information, field change requests, non-conformance reports and work inspection requests.
- Support the undertaking of vendor off-site and on-site inspections for civil & structural works.
- Coordinate civil & structural design with other project disciplines, review project design criteria, vendor submissions, construction inspection records and test reports.
- Coordinate civil and structural design integration across numerous contracts, work packages and stakeholders.
- Liaison with customer representatives as the subject matter expert and accountable person for delivery of civil & structural engineering documentation, including presentations and reporting as required.
- Undertake audits, reports and present findings of designer, contractor, stakeholder and project team application and adherence to engineering processes and policies.
- Support the production of verification packages to facilitate turnover of completed civil and structural works.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Holds a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Maintains or working towards a Registration or Charter as a Professional Structural Engineer (i.e., Registered Structural Engineer, MIStructE, or similar).
- 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience performing Value Engineering, Constructability Reviews, Safety Reviews, and O&M Reviews.
- Possesses working knowledge and production ability with computer-aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Possesses a working knowledge of BIM processes, including experience designing projects in BIM platforms, particularly Revit and Navisworks.
- Experience providing technical support to Construction Department and disposition of queries and review of submittals.
- Experience coordinating structural engineering to civil and geotechnical engineering, other engineering disciplines, and architecture.
- Experience with the use and thorough knowledge of International Design Codes/Standards/Specifications, particularly ACI, AISC, ASCE, and PCI.
- Experience reviewing, updating, and preparing Structural Specifications, Design Manuals, Design Criteria, and Drawing Standards.
- Experience with current computer-aided structural engineering and design software, such as STAAD.Pro, STAAD.Foundation Advanced, ETABS, SAFE, and SAP2000.
- Is a self-motivated individual with good leadership skills and the ability to influence without being authoritative.
