Project Overview:

Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company has been appointed to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial, and construction management) for the development of a state of the art international airport in the city of Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. King Salman International Airport will have a capacity of up to 120 million travellers by 2030 and 185 million travellers by 2050, and the capacity to process up to 3.5 million tons of cargo by 2050. Bechtel will provide PMC services for three new terminals; Terminal 6 is a new build ‘low cost carrier’ – hyper efficient terminal with gross floor area of ≈450,000m2, capacity of 20mppa; Iconic Terminal is a new build ‘new concept’ terminal with gross floor area of ≈ 1M m2, capacity of 40 to 45 mppa, and Private Aviation Terminal and hangars for VIPs and business jet passengers.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Project Management Information System Manager, you will be accountable for developing, implementing and managing the Project GIS/BIM Management Plan in accordance with the customer's requirements. This shall include implementation of all necessary VDC (virtual design and construction) and GIS/BIM tools to successfully manage and analyze the design, coordination, construction, scheduling (4D Construction Sequencing), and phasing of the Work and provision of training to all Delivery Partner staff to ensure that the customer's BIM Requirements are satisfied.   You will also be primarily accountable for developing, implementing and maintaining a Project GIS strategy document in accordance with the customer's requirements, and the establishment and maintenance of the Project GIS database.

Major Responsibilities:

GIS Analysis and Mapping - primary responsibility:

  • Conduct spatial analysis and create maps using GIS software (customer requirement — ESRI ArcGIS Pro v3.2.0
  • Integrate GIS data with BIM models to enhance project visualization and analysis.
  • Check and import GIS data received from the customer's designers and contractors into the Project GIS database.
  • Develop and maintain geospatial databases to support project needs.

BIM Management- secondary responsibility:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain BIM standards and protocols.
  • Supervise and manage the development of project BIM models for all disciplines (including all sub-Consultants, and all Vendors) to LOD 300, with data organization such that it can be further developed to LOD 400/500 at later project stages.
  • Supervise and manage the seamless information handover from Lead Design Consultants (LDC) to contractors, including review of the end of design stage gate deliverables to ensure that all contractual deliverables are met by the LDC. This stage gate review will include coordination and clash detection to ensure that the LOD 300 models are clash free and constructible.
  • Provide training and support to team members on BIM tools and workflows.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with team members and stakeholders to understand customer requirements and objectives.
  • Prepare and present reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for staff on BIM and GIS technologies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to BIM and GIS.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and minimum 12 years of relevant experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Provides automation support to engineering teams on project, including setup, training, application and process, software quality assurance and control, reporting, database administration, and close-out of all construction automation software's and applications
  • Arranges, prepares, and conducts meetings, workshops, and presentations as required
  • Assists with executing the project automation plan
  • Evaluates and coordinates the implementation of new automation modules and tools
  • Tests and supports data integration of new releases of production software/programs
  • Customizes applications as required by project
  • Prepares user guides and training material and delivers training
  • Collects and coordinates and supports performance curves, metrics, trackers, and user feedback to show trends and use in improvements
  • Recommends adjustments in coordination with the Engineering Group Supervisors and Project Engineering Manager
