Project Overview:
Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. As we consider the future of aviation globally and in the GCC, we are very enthusiastic about the future of aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
We are currently considering candidates with aviation, other transportation or complex public accessible building project experience to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh should it be awarded to Bechtel. This posting serves as an expression of interest only.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and supervise contractors on a project. Your oversight will ensure contractors craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manages the team that has the responsibility for construction oversight and compliance of contractors, ensuring works are carried out as per the drawings, specifications and standards, as per schedule and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards and local/national regulatory safety codes
- Oversee performance of the installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems
- Lead and coordinate with contractors, engineers, client, and other stakeholders involved in the project execution
- Leads input to ensure continuous construction work fronts availability through review of look ahead schedules, commodity charts, resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules and any other service requirements including contractor submittals
- Ensures required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of the specific work at site. Verifies compliance with Permit and License requirements and stipulations
- Ensure all materials and equipment on the site fully comply with international standard and technical specification requirements
- Ensure the closure of project is systematic and complete in all respects
- Maintains an effective relationship with client, stakeholders and other functional departments and coordinates all jobsite contractual activities
- Coordinates and monitors interfaces with other contractors, lead the review meetings
Education and Experience Requirements:
Grade 26: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Grade 27: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- A strong understanding of construction means & methods and requirements, including experience reviewing Contractors’ submittals, work method statements, safety plans, quality plans and traffic control plans for compliance with contract documents.
- Have a basic understanding of contract administration, including preparation of correspondence, analysis of claims, and construction negotiation.
- Experience working in international locations, either on CM or Direct Hire Contracts, preferably in the Middle East.
- Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
- Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
- Must be strong in construction technical knowledge.
- Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities with demonstrated experience providing direction/ supervising a team.
- Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders to make critical decisions where required.
- Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization.
- Ability to work to deadlines and accelerated project schedules.
- Previous experience of working in a live operational airport environment would be highly beneficial.
