Project Overview:

Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. As we consider the future of aviation globally and in the GCC, we are very enthusiastic about the future of aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

We are currently considering candidates with aviation, other transportation or complex public accessible building project experience to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh. 
 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and manage architectural activities on large projects requiring major effort. You will direct development and approval of design guides, standard specifications, and work processes, and will continuously monitor work in progress. Your guidance will ensure resolution of complex architectural design problems, client satisfaction, and compliance with requirements. 
 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day architectural activity on medium to large sized complex projects that require major architectural, engineering, and design management focus
  • Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs, and schedules and assigns work accordingly​ 
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly​  
  • Maintains contact with other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project(s) and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements​  
  • Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements​ 
  • Reviews and makes recommendations of the architectural aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering​  
  • When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of architectural aspects of the work​  
  • Reviews and approves key calculations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned​  
  • Ensures that assigned architectural personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development​  
  • Leads the design effort for in-house project designs and plans using Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Land FX, Sketchup, Photoshop, and other design and 3D modeling software

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience​
     

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in planning, developing, coordinating, and reviewing complex architectural work on large, complex transportation projects, including airports
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, presenting to customers, and working with authorities having jurisdiction
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural design, production techniques, building materials, specifications, building codes/standards, international codes/ standards, and construction methods
  • Knowledge of current industry and regulatory standards and general design criteria pertinent to architectural work
  • Experience in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, value engineering studies, or alternate technical concepts 
  • Experience with managing the coordination of design development with other functions which will include construction, estimating, project controls, procurement, and contracts management
  • Understands and performs the standard architectural work planning, scheduling, and job hour estimating process; conducts independent work requiring judgment in the application of design techniques
  • Experience in monitoring and ensuring compliance with project budgets, schedules, quantities, and quality requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with BIM / Digital Twin project execution methodologies. Experience with multidisciplinary Autodesk Design suite (e.g. Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks) and the related design workflows
  • Demonstrate flexibility in balancing competing deadlines, priorities, and resource availability
  • Able to identify and articulate opportunities for procedural improvement, assess the scope of problems, develop practical solutions and carry out implementation
  • Must have strong organizational, leadership and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, and the desire to innovate designs as well as architecture/ engineering work processes
  • Proven ability to lead and work within a diverse multicultural environment.
