Project Overview:

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team of systems engineering personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work. You will prepare estimates and work plans and manage implementation and performance reporting. Your oversight and expertise will ensure systems engineering work is completed according to scope, schedule, and budget and is compliant with Bechtel and client requirements. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day Systems Engineering activity
  • Reviews Systems Engineering documents relating to requirements management, verification and validation, functional analysis, technical trade studies, interface management, reliability, availability, maintainability, systems integration, and configuration management
  • Establish and set up the configuration management processes along with a fully functional configuration tool
  • Manage the Selection of a software-based configuration control tool, procurement and implementation with roll out across the Project
  • Baseline and maintain the Project’s configuration in terms of operational, functional, infrastructure and systems point of view
  • Ensure that the required Configuration Items List (CIL) is managed and coordinated across the project’s Contractors, the level (detail) of the CIL shall be taken down to a level commensurate with a Project size and complexity of Project.
  • Through the development and implementation of surveillance activities, provide assurance that the project is compliant with the approved configuration management plans, procedure and processes
  • Verify & Validate critical inputs and outputs with stakeholders and interfacing parties (designers) in terms of the potential changes to the Project’s configuration
  • Review of design and implementation submissions from engineering entities pertaining to Configuration Items (CI) throughout the project life cycle
  • Coordinate the configuration management process with the project’s engineering requirements by supporting the definition and administration of the design configuration, CI(s) that include both hardware, and software
  • Participate in Design & Implementation Gate reviews and ensure deliverables required for configuration management are submitted, reviewed, and accepted by the Project
  • Support change management activities affecting CI's and assists in determining impact on interfacing parties
  • Participation in commercial ‘Trend’ meetings and panels etc., advising on technical change information
  • Establish a Requirements Management Plan for the Project and implemented in accordance with the associated requirements
  • Ensuring the Requirements are correctly allocated to the Delivery Partner Team and Contractors
  • Establishing and maintaining a Requirements Compliance Matrix
  • Manages the preparation of impact analyses for proposed requirement changes
  • Reviews and makes recommendations of the Systems Engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering
  • Reviews and approves key specifications, systems analysis, and change orders, for the project to which assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience of implementing requirements in major infrastructure projects.
  • Experienced user of Requirements Management tools (i.e. Innoslate, DOORS NG, etc.).
  • Proven track record in leading the development and implementation configuration management techniques preferably on major aviation and infrastructure project, or alternatively in an oil & gas, rail, or nuclear environments.
  • Significant experience in configuration management, tools and processes, including developing configuration Management plans, processes, policies, procedures and supporting project teams.
  • CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) knowledge and audit participation to a significant level of experience.
  • Working knowledge and application of Industry Standards such as BS/ISO 10007:2003, BS/EN 9223-101 to 105:2018 etc.
  • Proven capabilities to manage systems engineering plans.
  • Ability to develop, direct, and participate in the day-to-day Systems Engineering activity.
  • Proven capabilities in reviewing Systems Engineering documents relating to requirements management, verification and validation, functional analysis, technical trade studies, interface management, reliability, availability, maintainability, systems integration, and configuration management. 
  • Pro-active with problem solving skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience on aviation projects (preferred).
