JOB  SUMMARY: 

Bechtel provides program management and construction support services for the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC). This agency provides transportation capital infrastructure improvements on the existing California State highway system, for a regional commuter rail line, and on regional/local roads and streets within Riverside County.  Bechtel has been supporting RCTC continuously for over 30 years.  The support services provided to assist RCTC capital works project management include: coordination of environmental, engineering, utility, and construction activities; procurement and contract administration support; project controls, office administrative and document controls.

 

The Planner is responsible to schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities. Supports project organizational and administrative activities when delegated. Supervises planning/scheduling activities when delegated. Ensures work is completed as scheduled. Identifies schedule-associated cost trends for management attention.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Independently supports overall planning & schedule development, analysis and reporting efforts.
  • Independently support the integration of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction schedules.
  • Utilizes resource loading and leveling capabilities of Primavera 6.
  • Produces standard and custom schedules and charts from Primavera 6.
  • Exports and imports data between Primavera 6 and other databases.
  • Responsible for understanding the complete scope, project schedule objectives as well as supporting and maintaining a plan and schedule to accomplish the same.
  • Independently supports planning and coordinating schedule interfaces with the owner, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Independently supports the timely preparation and update of detailed execution schedules, resource utilization plans and progress tracking systems.
  • Independently supports the integration of all activity sequences & logics with the total project plan.
  • Independently supports accurate schedules, resource, quantities, progress, and performance reporting.
  • Independently monitors critical and near critical path work and identifies issues for mitigation.
  • Proactively assesses progress, completion forecasts and provides solutions to mitigate schedule delays or to optimize project completion. - Independently evaluates project progress against historical indicators and provides comparative analysis.
  • Independently supports the implementation of scheduling & progress metrics and monitoring systems.
  • Independently supports the integration of the multi-site, engineering, procurement, construction and start-up planning and scheduling efforts.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field with 6-9 years of project controls or cost related work experience.  In lieu of Bachelor’s degree 12-15 years of project controls or cost control experience.
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications.  Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office Applications, for example).
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
