Project Overview

Bechtel is among the most respected engineering, project management, and construction companies in the world. Bechtel operates through four global business units that specialize in infrastructure; mining and metals; nuclear, security and environmental; and oil, gas, and chemicals. Today, our colleague's team with customers, partners, and suppliers on diverse projects in nearly 40 countries. Bechtel’s focus on solar, renewables, and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the engineering, procurement, and construction for a utility-scale photovoltaic (“PV”) generating plant. Position is based on award.


Position Summary

Reporting to the Project Manager and located at the jobsite. The Site Manager will supervise field construction team during the construction and start-up of utility-scale solar facilities and provide input to Renewables team on required cost and services, execution methodology, schedule, risks, and strategy during the development and estimating of projects.  The Site Manager will maintain relationships with project personnel, particularly individual discipline group leaders, have ongoing contacts with working and supervisory level personnel of other departments and will interface with the functional construction team in implementing applicable Bechtel construction standards and processes. The Site Manager will also have regular contacts with clients, landowners, permitting authorities, third party inspectors, and government agencies.


This position will start in Richmond, TX on a short-term assignment. In addition to meeting all the Essential Job Duties and Job Knowledge, the ideal candidate should be adaptable and able to relocate to project sites throughout the US. 



  • Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering site construction and supporting activities, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, performance testing, initial operations, and prime contract close-out.
  • Has overall responsibility for project execution, ensuring that the project is delivered within contract requirements, standards of quality and safety and to Customer and Bechtel performance expectations.
  • Provides overall leadership direction for the project; including the management of project quality, timeliness, safety, as well as mentoring the project team.
  • Serves as primary interface with the client and the equipment supplier teams.
  • Will develop and enhance customer relationships by providing excellent service.
  • Manages budgets and schedules, manages performance, reports progress, and initiates action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications.
  • Resolves problems and coordinates the final turnover of the project to the customer.
  • Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of a high performance project team.
  • Supports selection of partners and suppliers.
  • Maintain schedule and budget until project completion.
  • Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions.
  • Supports developing projects to complete all required permitting activities before commencement.
  • Manages quality control program to ensure processes are implemented according to the plan and are consistent.
  • Leads and support the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing systems in place.
  • Other tasks as assigned to support renewable business objectives.


Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of relevant solar site management experience.
  • 10+ years of supervisory experience in a related construction industry (i.e. power generation, utilities, heavy civil, industrial).
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
