Project Overview

The project office is in the city of Richmond, KY with a plant site located approximately 5 miles away on the Blue Grass Army Depot. Candidate must be able to work safely in an operating plant environment located on the Blue Grass Army Depot. Candidate must be physically fit and able to work safely at a chemical agent demilitarization site, as well as pass a mustard and nerve agent medical surveillance, Category I physical.

 

Work Location: BGCAPP -Madison County, KY or Richmond, KY in town office. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment and successfully go through a government screening process. Unescorted access required. Candidate must successfully clear National Agency Check (NAC.) Must be able to work safely at Plant site location. Based on project goals and objectives, candidates established within our local community are desirable.

 

During operations, this project will be subject to the Army Regulations (AR50-6 Chemical Surety) which governs persons performing work under the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) and Unescorted Access Program (UAP). Depending on the work performed and the access granted a government security investigation and other physical requirements such as respirators may be mandated. Eligibility to be placed in a CPRP or UAP position requires US citizenship.

 

Position Summary

Supports the efforts of project System Engineering personnel for maintenance of plant information technology-based systems including network support, infrastructure operations, and workstation support. Performs assignments that require initiative and independent judgment in monitoring, maintaining, reporting and conducting entry-level fault-finding resolution and responds to technical issues and requests. Develops professional working knowledge and abilities through application of standard Information Technology methodologies, techniques, procedures, and criteria. Exercises judgment in performing assigned tasks. As part of normal job duties, employee may be required to be in an on-call status to be able to promptly respond to and address user/customer needs.

 

Job Dimensions

A.     Supervision Received

  • Receives day to day administrative supervision from a designated Project System Engineering Lead, and high-level technical supervision from a designated Project IS&T Manager.

B. Supervision Exercised

  • None. May provide technical direction as appropriate to associate team members within a discipline.

C. Contacts

  • Makes frequent contact with system engineering, cybersecurity, subcontractors, vendors, and customers to resolve problems and issues relating to specified information technology systems.
  • May contact other personnel in IS&T, other Bechtel functions and/or projects, and selected users to gather or provide information on specialized information technology related activities.
  • May liaise with vendors and equipment providers as necessary to support project.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and monitors own work within a limited time horizon, using applicable methods, procedures, tools, equipment, and standards effectively with only occasional reference to others.
  • Responds to customers’ needs, questions and concerns in an accurate, effective, and timely manner and expedites corrective actions.
  • Performs specific tasks while utilizing established information technology standards and methods
  • Works with system stakeholders to define timeframe requirements.
  • Installs, tests, and supports local area network /wide area network components such as data switches, routers, and/or firewall equipment.
  • Develops procedures and guidelines as they relate to supported systems.
  • Deploys, manages, configures, and monitors network analyzing tools.
  • Assists in developing standard network device configurations, monitoring tool configuration and deployment.
  • Prepares preventative maintenance schedules and backup program necessary to ensure robust network environment.
  • Installs and upgrades software/firmware and performs regular maintenance on network devices as required.
  • Assures that all work processes are properly tracked to support cybersecurity program.
  • Resolves problems and faults concerning installation of hardware, software, or firmware.
  • Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware, software and firmware problems pertaining to systems under purview.
  • Apply appropriate security controls and assess the performance of those controls as identified by supervision.
  • Conducts safeguards in accordance with established test plans and procedures.
  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity safeguards for system(s) under purview in accordance with implementation plans and standard operating procedures.
  • Analyze patterns of non-compliance and take appropriate administrative or programmatic actions to minimize security risks and insider threats.
  • Perform system audits to assess security related factors within the system(s) under purview.
  • Perform Security Test and Evaluations to support system authorizations.

 

Job Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of corporate, industry and professional standards.
  • Ability to handle customer interactions in an accurate, effective, and timely manner.
  • Intermediate knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, network infrastructures, client server principles, backup, recovery, and storage policies and procedures,
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure systems, protocols, and support. Including firmware upgrades, backup and restore, and basic configuration.
  • Ability to articulate ideas and write clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to identify, track, escalate, and resolve problems using basic techniques and methods of troubleshooting end-user problems.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • US Citizenship Required
  • Recognized degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited college or university and 5 years of professional experience. In lieu of degree, candidate must have 9 years of professional IT experience.
  • Intermediate level of understanding and applying Microsoft Office Suite of applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification from Preferred Certification List or capability to meet DODI 8570.01-M IAT II certification within 6 months of employment.

 

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Security+ CE, A+ CE, Network+ CE, CCNA-Security and/other relevant industry certification(s).
