Project Overview:
Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead the development of automation tools, templates, and workflows according to the project automation plan. You will customize applications and reports, review test plans and performance curves, and manage output data. Your recommendations will ensure applications comply with engineering work-process and that project requirements align with the availability of data.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-SNH
Major Responsibilities:
- Establishes and administers select engineering applications on the project, includes, but is not limited to OpenPlant P&ID, OpenPlant Modeler, OpenPlant Support Engineering, Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, OpenBuildings Designer, ProjectWise, Microstation, Smart Materials, SmartPlant Foundation, Smart Interop Publisher, Agile etc.
- Coordinates with construction, procurement, project controls and other departments to establish automated data transfer between applications.
- Understands reporting requirements for each application and configures reports accordingly; Ensures reports are accurate reflections of the data and are functioning as intended.
- Collates performance curves, metrics, trackers, and user feedback to show trends, and use in improvements.
- Reviews output data and prepares engineering report with direction from Engineering Group Supervisors and Project Engineering Manager.
- Provides training and technical support of the suite of Engineering Automation applications, to field engineering, supervision, administration, project controls and other site personnel.
- Evaluates and coordinates the implementation of new automation modules and tools. Tests and supports data integration of new releases of production software/programs.
- Customizes applications as required by project.
- Prepares user guides and training material and delivers training.
- Recommends adjustments in coordination with the Engineering Group Supervisors and Project Engineering Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Demonstrates judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Networks and connects with internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
- Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
