Project Overview:

Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era. The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities. The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.  This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm with occasional weekend overtime 

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will perform administrative duties that require proficiency, accuracy, judgement, initiative, discretion, and knowledge of protocol. You will handle both routine and complicated items, such as coordinating travel, preparing expense reports, and composing correspondence. Your ability to anticipate problems and changing priorities will help bring efficiency and organization to your team. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Acts as liaison between senior management and staff in coordinating business affairs.
  • Assists manager with a moderate scope of decision-making activities​
  • Handles complex administrative items independently​
  • Provides support of a highly responsible and highly confidential nature​
  • Independently anticipates problems and changing priorities; alerts manager and may take action to adapt manager’s schedule/commitments accordingly​
  • Completes business independently, or refers to other staff, forwards the most important to the senior manager, and follows up to ensure action​
  • Duties require accuracy, judgment, a high degree of initiative, discretion, diplomacy, and knowledge of protocol​
  • Coordinates complex travel arrangements and travel itineraries; Prepares detailed expense reports using Concur or other expense report software as required​
  • Prepare and distributes notices, agendas, information packets, and meeting minutes. Schedules meetings, including board meetings, and coordinates materials.​
  •  Analyzes and reports data and metrics from core processes.
  • Perform special assignments of an analytical nature or the gathering of information.
  • May be required to send documents to the client’s document management system and may develop and implement administrative operational procedures and guidelines

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of 4-6 years of related experience​
  • Associate degree or related technical training preferred

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to operate effectively in an extremely fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Must be flexible and willing to shift gears and take on unexpected and/or unanticipated projects as needed.
  • Must be proactive, have above average organizational skills, use individual initiative and follow assignments through to completion.
  • Proven administrative capability including the ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to effectively deal with abstract and sometimes ambiguous situations in a positive manner and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
  • Possess advanced leadership skills. Ability to provide direction to other personnel.
  • Has specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable work experience​
