Project Overview
Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30am to 5:00pm (day shift). Extended work weeks and/or extended hours may be required or authorized to support the construction schedule.
Job Summary:
Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI) is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Compliance Manager for the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP). This individual will be assigned to the High-Level Waste (HLW) Construction organization and report to the WTP Chief Compliance Reporting Officer. This individual will assist the WTP Chief Compliance Reporting Officer in assuring BNI’s and its teaming subcontractors’ compliance with the WTP contract, policies, procedures, and agreements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Identify deficiencies or opportunities for improvement and oversee and validate the implementation of corrective actions
- Perform field engagements with the Craft Professional workforce of BNI’s partnering subcontractor, The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC)
- Key Interface with WTP Chief Compliance Reporting Officer and WTP Project Director as well as external agencies such as the Department of Energy Hanford Field Office and Department of Energy Office of Inspector General
- Provide leadership and support in the resolution of site compliance time charging issues
- Manage, lead, or participate in Compliance assessments of programs/procedures within the Bechtel organization at WTP
- Provide Compliance-related oversight of WTCC Construction work activities (HLW), including labor time charging, planning/scheduling work, work execution, and validation of associated metrics
- Provide Compliance-related oversight of WTCC Plant Operations and Maintenance work activities (DFLAW), including labor time charging, planning/scheduling work, work execution, and validation of associated metrics
- Participate in project office and field meetings with project team members and client personnel as required
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field and 13-15 years of experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
- Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries—are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
- Advanced level of knowledge of construction, start-up and maintenance, work processes
- Demonstrated ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with peers, management, and customers
- Demonstrated flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience on large EPC projects with the US government or on a nuclear power project
- Prior experience with project controls, audit, legal, or government contract oversight/administration is preferred
