Technical Systems Support Specialist

Bechtel is seeking an Enterprise Operations Support team member to join the Information Systems & Technology Group, in the Reston VA, USA Office. The position will be part of a team responsible for maintaining, operating and supporting Bechtel’s Enterprise Integration Platform (EIP), which includes Workflow orchestration and Business Process Automation environments. The EIP team is responsible for successful development, and deployment of the Enterprise Integration Platform used in Bechtel worldwide.



  • Analyze, diagnose, design, plan, execute and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets
  • Exhibits thorough familiarity with available methods, procedures, tools, equipment and standards associated with own area of specialization and makes correct choices from alternatives.
  • Defines operating procedures and maintenance schedules and liaises with customers to assess and develop appropriate information technology solutions.
  • Responsibilities entail managing legacy system on Oracle SOA / Weblogic, and transition to Azure cloud environment:
  • Perform middleware and software installation / patch / upgrade to development, test and production servers.
  • Work with DBAs in creating middleware and database instance and schema creation, migration, merge, reorganization, archive, restoration.
  • Perform system security setup.
  • Perform system tuning, capacity planning, and change management.
  • Designing, developing, documenting, and validating middleware backup and recovery plans in accordance with the business requirements.
  • Perform tool and technology evaluation.
  • Migration of developed components across environments
  • Monitor servers and make recommendations for resolutions
  • Work with Product owner, Solution and Enterprise Architect in implementing infrastructure upgrades
  • Identify and Implement best practices for pro-actively monitoring performance of the systems
  • Assist program developers with the use of Oracle Weblogic and Oracle SOA components
  • Assist program developers with the use of Microsoft Azure stack consisting of Azure Service Bus, Logic Apps, Azure Event Grid
  • Be able to log Service Requests (SR’s) with Oracle, Microsoft and other associated product vendors, apply patches and coordinate with developers, support analysts and users to verify a patch has corrected a problem without negative consequences.
  • Able to work overtime to support activities as necessary.
  • Good English speaking and writing skills are required.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS, MIS or related technical field of study
  • 5 plus years of experience as an Oracle WebLogic administrator on Linux servers hosting SOA Suite components and/or 1 year of experience as an Azure cloud services administrator with exposure to managing Azure Service Bus, Logic Apps, Azure Event Grid.
  • 5 years of experience on Linux and/or Unix platform required.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in developing scripts for routine maintenance tasks
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in managing a clustered infrastructure architecture


Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experienced in installing SSL Certificates, configuring Keystores, implementing SSO
  • Knowledge in configuring messaging and event services, such as JMS
  • Knowledge using Oracle Enterprise Manager, Cloud Control  or Azure monitoring services for monitoring and administration required.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure systems architecture concepts, configurations and standards, including but not limited to
    • Streams
    • Events, Messaging
    • API’s, API management, API gateways
  • Skilled in working with customers to understand their requirements and expectations by asking questions and listening.
  • Oracle SOA Suite installation and administration in a high available configuration
  • Experience in installing and configuring Oracle SOA Suite Products, Oracle API Platform Cloud Service and Gateway servers.
  • Oracle WebLogic Administration certification
  • Microsoft Azure service administration and configuration of Azure Service Bus, Logic Apps, and Azure Event Grid, Azure API gateway
  • BPMN 2.0
  • The above may be acquired through:
    • Recognized degree in Computer Science or Information Systems from an accredited college or university, or
    • Specialized courses in general information technology or relevant information technology disciplines, and
    • Extensive work experience in information technology or relevant equivalent experience in other information systems and technology disciplines.
