Bechtel is searching for a System Administrator in our Reston, VA office. 


This role reports to the System Admin Lead and works closely with our Master Data Management, Enterprise Interoperability and other platform administrators and developers to ensure cross-functional alignment in driving the data specifications, systems and architecture requirements, as well as key design paradigms, principles and methodologies.  The System Administrator is responsible for planning, building, configuration, deployment and operations of various environments.  This administrator will collaborate with peer IT and Automation teams to ensure that the various platforms meet customer needs and adhere to IS&T standards.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage our master data management, interoperability, and other various platforms and associated integration, operation and health of the underlying systems
  • Support and manage, on behalf of the System Admin Lead, our future state Master Data Management and Data Governance (MDM/DG) Enterprise Interoperability (EIP) platforms and operations to support the business processes
  • Participate, with other team members in the development, setup and initial operation of various platform systems. These activities will include:
    • Install, cnfigure and manage MDM/DG software in a Linux environment (on-premise and cloud)
    • Perfrmance monitoring and tuning of the Linux infrastructure supporting Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) capabilities
    • Implement the functinal requirements for MDM, EIP and other platforms
    • Supprt and manage platform related operational work processes
    • Supprt DG policies and procedures, roles of business and data stewards, DG work flows, and disaster recovery and continuity of operations plan
    • Perfrm regular system operations audits and other health checks
    • Wrk with Bechtel IS&T Security team to ensure compliance
    • Supprt data quality profiling and reporting
    • Wrk with Bechtel Enterprise Integration team (EIP) to implement required data integration


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science related field
  • US Citizenship


Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong automation skills
  • Familiarity with the following: supporting and implement application systems and platforms, database systems and associated query languages and reporting solutions, application lifecycles, data integration, and data quality and profiling
  • Experience supporting Linux based systems
  • Understanding of data centric execution platforms
  • Familiarity with role-based access control and information security
  • Proficiency in developing scripts for routine maintenance tasks
  • Proficiency with SQL development skills
  • Proficiency in Programing Language(s)
  • Proficiency in API development and support skills
  • Proficiency around using tools to create, view and edit data
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to think out of the box and question everything
  • Knowledge of data governance and master data management
  • Knowledge of data quality and data integration
  • Agile Software development experience a plus
  • Experience with Java Programming Language, JavaScript, NodeJS or Python a plus
  • Experience with Oracle WebLogic Server a plus
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Containers, Docker, or Ansible a plus
  • Experience with REST APIs and/or microservices a plus
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking
