Consisting of architectural, civil, control systems, electrical, mechanical, plant design, systems and project engineers, NS&E Engineering Services uses a “shared resources” model where team members work together in support of the full AE task order life cycle - industry engagement, proposal, and project delivery.


The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.   



Role Overview 

  • Originate and check complex structural deliverables, including drawings and 3-D models for steel structures.
  • Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
  • Report design quantities compared to estimated quantities.
  • Work with Design Supervisor and Engineering Group Supervisor to plan, budget, and schedule deliverables within the discipline.
  • Participate in project design/model reviews.
  • Participate in constructability reviews.
  • Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
  • Ability to be group leader for a team of designers and drafters.
  • Act as mentor or coach for subordinate designers and drafters.


Basic Qualifications 

  • High School diploma with 12 years of related design experience 
  • Proficiency in the use of Revit for both steel and reinforced concrete structures
  • US citizen with no dual citizenship from any country


Minimum Qualifications 

  • Experience in creating and modifying Revit 3D models in both steel and reinforced concrete, knowledgeable in integrating models from Architectural and Structural Engineers, and experienced in BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflow process
  • Experience in creating and modifying models in Tekla Structures
  • Work experience should emphasize design of structural steel and reinforced concrete
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Familiar with provisions of AISC, IBC, and OSHA codes.  Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques 
  • Familiar with methods of procurement and control of bulk materials 
  • Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with structural design 
  • Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex structural systems
  • Ability to act in lead position over a team of designers and drafters
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications
  • Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally
  • Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, and construction 


Preferred Qualifications

  • AA degree in civil engineering or engineering technology
  • Necessary skills to present technical subjects with competence and confidence
  • Willingness to relocate after assignment completion
