Job Summary:
The Senior Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity Engineer operates as part of the central OT Cybersecurity group reporting to the Engineering Group Supervisor (EGS). The Senior OT Cybersecurity Engineer has a key role in independently developing and delivering engineering products to meet cybersecurity requirements for various NS&E projects. The Senior OT Cyber Engineer will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting cybersecurity requirements and determining appropriate implementations. This position will be a critical and independent contributor in the design engineering process; originating discipline deliverables and coordinating activities with multiple functions and disciplines as well as with internal and external stakeholders, as required. This position will be a Part-Time Telework position and will be based in Reston, VA with periodic business travel, as required.

Major Responsibilities:
- This position will be responsible for executing OT Cyber engineering work assignments concerned with specialized unique cybersecurity engineering requirements of Federal Systems, nuclear power, and commercial systems to ensure highly available and secure environment.
- This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and may involve development of novel concepts, approaches, and solutions. The Senior OT Cyber engineer will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines, clients, partners, and suppliers in the design and verification of the systems and facility OT cybersecurity requirements.
- The position will be responsible for developing key design engineering documents, such as proposals, conceptual studies, designs, and reports; utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard OT Cyber engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Interpretation of cybersecurity requirements and implementation, evaluation, and verification of the requirements in engineered systems.
- Provides technical assistance to other OT Cyber personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Works closely with Systems Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Information Systems and Technology, and other cybersecurity professionals to achieve a common goal.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BS degree from a US accredited institution in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Systems, Controls Systems or related discipline plus 5-8 years of relevant experience; or without degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in one or more cybersecurity program standards. (i.e., NIST SP 800-37, SP 800-53, SP 800-82; CNSSI 1253; ISA/IEC 62443; NRC RG 5.71, NEI 08-09)
- Experience working with various vendors control system software (e.g., Schneider, ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, Siemens, Allen Bradley)
- Experience supporting OT/ICS design engineering, procurement, startup, and operations.
- Experience with OT/ICS systems communication protocols, architecture concepts, configurations, and standards.
- Experience reviewing and preparing ICS/SCADA Cybersecurity engineering products such as plan, studies, vendor documentation, requirements, technical specifications, drawings, network design, and risk-based assessments.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed OT cybersecurity specifications, data sheets, and requisitions for digital equipment derived from OT cybersecurity codes and standards.
- Experience with Systems Engineering concepts and practices.
- Experience with industry standard cybersecurity solutions, configurations, and practices, to include operating systems, directory services, policy, logging/telemetry, networking/telecommunications, and vulnerability management.
- Communication and collaboration skills that enable both independent and/or team approach to assigned technical work tasks.
- Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task, meet tight project deadlines, and execute work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE or EIT Registration
- Commercial Nuclear Power OT Cybersecurity or I&C CSAT experience, to include cyber security requirements, specifications, procurements, Critical Systems & Critical Digital Asset screening and assessment, in accordance with
- RC/NEI guidance
- ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert, GISCP, CISSP, Security+ CE security certifications
- Proficiency in network security, L2/L3 networking, and virtual environments.
