Job Summary:
This position serves as a senior technical specialist for the Nuclear, Security, and Environmental global business unit, including the performance of environmental, nuclear safety, chemical hazards, dispersion, and extreme weather analyses. Additional responsibilities include the validation, verification and commercial grade dedication of modeling software used for hazards and dispersion modeling. The position also has technical responsibility for interpreting complex requirements and problems, evaluating, and applying appropriate scientific/environmental engineering principles to solutions. Provides technical assistance to other Environmental Engineering personnel assigned to projects and other project functions. This position maintains relationships with internal Bechtel organizations (e.g., other Engineering disciplines, Construction, Environmental Safety & Health, and Subcontracts), customer, and contractor/subcontractor representatives to coordinate technical/scientific issues, new technologies, and integration of Environmental Engineering responsibilities into project proposals, design specifications, construction plans and schedules, and subcontractor bid packages. Maintains contact, as appropriate, with government regulatory and resource agencies to obtain current information on new regulations, program initiatives, and technical requirements and standards. Maintains contact with other personnel (e.g., Environmental Engineering Group Supervisor, Project Engineers and ES&H Leads) to keep them informed of changing requirements and to provide technical assistance as needed. Maintains contact with customers to exchange information on issues, technical information, and new technologies.#LI-EH1
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership
Major Responsibilities:
- Preparation/lead technical specialist for environmental engineering calculations (e.g., atmospheric dispersion modeling, control room habitability, chemical and other hazards analyses) for nuclear power plant license applications
- Provides technical knowledge of scientific systems and calculations, application of scientific methods and materials, and application of scientific computer programs, including software commercial grade dedication, verification and validation processes.
- Identifies and defines problems; plans and conducts research aimed at their solution.
- Conducts or leads special studies on new technologies, methods, and materials.
- Carries out special or unique studies requiring unconventional or novel approaches or research techniques.
- Conducts research, presents papers, and keeps abreast of technological developments in a specialty, keeping engineering management informed of important new advances.
- Serves as consultant to project and specialty engineering/scientific groups, providing advice and counsel on assignments having special and unique features.
- Supports preparation of and reviews discipline estimates, discipline work plans, budgets and schedules.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field with at least 8-10 years of experience in engineering (environmental, chemical, civil, or mechanical), or physical sciences (e.g., chemistry, geology, meteorology) from an accredited college or university
Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Must be a US citizen
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Minimum Qualifications
- Specialized/advanced knowledge in a field of environmental/chemical engineering (e.g., atmospheric dispersion modeling, nuclear safety hazards analyses, meteorology).
- Knowledge of engineering/scientific systems, calculations, applications and relevant computer applications.
- Knowledge of NRC and DOE regulations pertaining to external hazards analyses.
- Knowledge of construction planning, estimating, procedures, and execution.
