Project Overview:

Several combined cycle power projects are currently planned to be developed and executed by Bechtel over the next 5-10 years. During the development phase of these projects, teams will be organized to support multiple projects concurrently. Following project award dedicated project teams will be formed and the Sr Civil Designer will provide support for all the combined cycle power projects.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will produce earthwork deliverables for Combined Cycle Power projects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/early works components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil aspects are met.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates, and reviews design work within a medium-sized engineering or design discipline workgroup on projects of medium size or assignments in support of the global business unit.
  • Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters.
  • Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering in the preparation of designs and deliverables.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
  • Oversee or prepare layouts, study drawings, and detailed 2D and 3D design models and construction drawings.
  • Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries. Makes decisions concerning problems within the discipline on the project.
  • Coordinates assigned design work with other project groups.
  • Mentors designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
  • Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators) as well as appropriate field personnel and other disciplines.
  • Maintains contacts and coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires an associate's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Recognized as advanced contributor with specialized skill set​
  • Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline​
  • Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of complex issues in creative and effective ways
  • Expert knowledge and use of Civil 3D
  • Experience working on Combined Cycle Power projects, along with a good knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the Civil/Structural discipline.
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication in English language.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This role is not eligible for current or future employment visa sponsorship.
