Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team of Employee Relations (ER) professionals, providing coaching, guidance and hands-on support in workplace investigations, performance management, accommodations, and employee relations consulting. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape policies and strategy, playing a key role in fostering a healthy organizational culture that supports employee engagement, satisfaction and retention.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-KL1 #LI-Hybrid
Major Responsibilities:
- Coaches, guides, and provides hands-on support in workplace investigations, performance management, accommodations and employee relations consulting within the region, in line with the corporate ER policy guidelines and processes.
- Advises and coaches management on country level employee relations practices and processes.
- Analyzes and interprets data to develop persuasive narratives and actionable recommendations; defines and tracks key metrics to assess program effectiveness and enhance the employee experience.
- Delivers ER consulting across manager and employee concerns, grievances and disputes including coordinating disciplinary outcomes and coaching managers and supervisors on best practices.
- Collaborates with in-house employment counsel and Ethics & Compliance on recommended corrective actions and interventions to mitigate potential risks to the company.
- Acts as Custodian of Bechtel’s Case Management System (BCMS), including regional access approvals, data maintenance, audit, compliance and reporting.
- Recommends and implements changes to regional ER policies, procedures, and strategy through monitoring relevant legislative changes within the region.
- Collaborates extensively with the Employee Relations CoE to contribute regional perspectives and insights on global ER programs, processes, strategies, and initiatives.
- Facilitates training programs for new or revised ER policies or programs and evaluates the effectiveness of their implementation.
- Delivers reduction in force processes as initiated by functional and/or regional management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory or team leadership role.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Deep understanding of federal and state labor laws, regulations, and best practices related to ER.
- Demonstrated experience in investigating and resolving complex ER issues, including harassment, discrimination and disciplinary matters.
- Strong understanding of performance management, policy development/enforcement and employment separation processes.
- Proven experience using data analytics and trend analysis to identify solutions focused on driving measurable improvements in team performance, promoting a positive workplace, achieving business outcomes and improving the employee experience.
- High degree of integrity and commitment to handling case management fairly, consistently, transparently, and in a timely and thorough manner.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels; strong presentation, facilitation and influencing skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, particularly for documenting and reporting on investigations and other ER matters.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on finding effective and practical solutions.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion and professionalism.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver training programs on ER topics.
- Significant expertise in conflict management and mediation.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with HR, Legal Counsel, Ethics & Compliance, Corporate Security and Workforce Services.
