Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of intercontinental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. Position Summary:

This position is for a REVIT Mechanical and Plumbing Modeler to be a member of the Automation and Digital Delivery team who will develop, manage, organize, and verify complex design information, within a model-based integrated digital engineering environment for the Department of Defense (DOD) and the United States Air Force (USAF) project. The modeler is responsible for the physicalizing of engineering design information in the digital environment. This information includes project Information, equipment information, equipment physical and engineered attributes, and vendor information. The integrated digital delivery program includes internal coordination of


Bechtel work on products and designs with functions outside of engineering, as well as coordination of the scope and integration of work with external stakeholders. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs and an understanding of project data and information integration and management.  



This position will be responsible for executing assignments concerned with delivering an engineering design in an integrated digital environment including executing engineering design, and modeling of physical characteristics and design information. 

  •  Responsible for developing content to support the creation of the project-specific Building Information Model (BIM).
  •  Supports the development of the Project Information within the Integrated Digital Environment including design models, drawings and other non-graphical data.
  •  Assures technical adequacy of work products in accordance with procedures, contract, and industry codes and standards. 
  •  Demonstrate ownership of assigned actions to self and shows initiative in problem-solving.
  •  Supports the administration and maintenance of the mechanical BIM Content Library, Standards, Methods & Protocols.
  •  Evaluates, selects, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment with limited oversight.
  •  Supports defining facility/system design requirements.
  •  Develop 3D modeling and design configuration packages for configuration control and change management.
  •  Coordinates as primary interface with engineering.
  • Utilizes the customer selected appropriate systems engineering software package with which to implement delivery.
  •  Accountable to capture, scrutinize and deconflict requirements across stakeholders and to subsequently assure delivery of hierarchical requirements management documents.
  •  Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
  •  Develop custom REVIT Families for project use.
  •  Maintains alignment and coordinates model information relative to engineered characteristics.


Qualification and Skills: 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Systems Engineering, from an accredited university, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Basic understanding of drafting standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • US citizenship is required per contract requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced training and experience using Revit MEP, including Architectural interface, drawing generation, family creation, view templates, design options, and phasing.
  • Experience in 3D Solid Modeling and Design Engineering
  • Experience developing custom REVIT families
  • Knowledgeable on related construction practices and standard EPC deliverables
  • Experience in Modeling of piping, HVAC, and Mechanical/Electrical equipment in a 3D Revit model environment.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, Broad knowledge of the application of engineering design principles.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, similar type responsibilities for nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building systems.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of construction documents and commercial building systems
  • Basic understanding of Construction Planning; Model-Based Estimating and Quantity Takeoff; 
  • Experience with Navisworks
  • Experience with engineering implementation on projects executed for DOD, or other similar government agencies. 
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens NX through education, training, or practical experience.
  • Experience with Synchro
  • Experience in the digital delivery of Engineering Procurement and Construction Projects, and management of Project Information in a digital delivery environment
  • Possess an understanding of applying engineering principles and methods, requirements management principles, and methods.
  • Be familiar with the design of complex industrial facilities
  • Experience with manufacturing modeling and efficiency analysis
  • Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide
  • Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Previous DoD/DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA project experience.
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
