Project Overview:

Bechtel has been selected to partner on the design and construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania. In partnership with Westinghouse Electric Company and Polish utility Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe, Bech­tel will deliver three AP1000® reactors for its inaugu­ral nuclear energy program.

Bechtel will perform the Engineering, Procurement and Construction activities to construct 3 AP1000® units at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site. Using once-through cool­ing to and from the Baltic Sea, the design uses a simpli­fied and innovative approach to safety. Bechtel’s recent completion of two AP1000’s® at Plant Vogtle has set the stage for the deployment of this proven technology in Europe.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise the administration of Supplier Quality activities. You will prepare project Supplier Quality procedures and operating instructions, develop project specific metrics, and make recommendations on supplier suitability. Your expertise will highlight trends, help improve supplier performance, and resolve risk and issues that impact project objectives. #LI-SF1

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the administration of Supplier Quality activities related to designated small to medium sized projects where one or more additional Supplier Quality Specialists are required to accomplish the work 
  • Distributes the work and delegates specific tasks to the Supplier Quality Specialists, performing an integral part of the work as time permits 
  • Monitors activities of the Area Supplier Quality Specialists through review of shop surveillance reports 
  • Represents the Supplier Quality department at the project level and is directly involved with project bid clarification and post-award meetings, project reviews, and problems related to supplier quality 
  • Assists the project team in the development and/or interpretation of technical specifications that fulfills the objectives of the project and customer 
  • Participates with engineering, quality assurance and construction organizations in development of cross-functional and proactive approach to mitigation of supplier performance issues 
  • Provides input for process improvements that minimize risk of manufacturing and testing issues on complex commodities 
  • Performs capability assessment surveys and quality system audits on project behalf and makes recommendations regarding suitability of supplier based upon results of surveys and/or audits 
  • Participates on project behalf in meetings and teleconferences with suppliers for the purposes of performance improvement, resolution of specific issues and to highlight and address performance trends that indicate potential negative impact to project objectives 

Supervisors assigned to an AREA as opposed to a Project are responsible for the following: 

  • Provides supervision direction and technical support to Supplier Quality Representatives in performance of quality surveillances and supplier evaluation 
  • Establishes workload distribution for Supplier Quality Representatives 
  • Coordinates with Project Supplier Quality Supervisors/Project Supplier Quality Representative (PSQS/Project Supplier Quality Representative (PSQR)s) for assignment of Supplier Quality Representatives to manage surveillance assignments 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with major commodities typically procured for Energy projects, recognized codes and standards, manufacturing methods
  • Performs project Supplier Quality functions having some degree of complexity, e.g., preparation of detailed inspection plans for use on complete or uniquely designed systems; preparation of full scope man-hour and budget estimates for proposed intermediate-sized projects; review of complex technical specifications; or the establishment of project corrective action(s) to resolve nonconformances that have a significant impact on project cost/schedule
  • Provides guidance to other PSQRs and Area Supplier Quality Specialists and non-technical support staff as assigned
  • Assists and/or monitors activities of assigned Area Supplier Quality Specialists
  • Requisite certification as an ANSI/ASME Level II (further to Level I competencies) and performs the following:
  • Conducts capability surveys of a prospective supplier
  • Participates as an audit team member or technical resource for nuclear material and/or quality program audits
  • Monitors the administrative and technical performance of Third Party Agency quality surveillance contractor personnel to assure that Corporate Supplier Quality Manual and Procedures and quality surveillance assignment instructions are implemented
