Project Overview:
Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on TerraPower's Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funds to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. TerraPower, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWE sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium. The Natrium Demonstration plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor design that is safer, easier and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels. It also features an innovative molten salt storage output, combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWE. The Natrium Demonstration plant will be licenced by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team to interpret the financial and business requirements of contracts and monitor and manage the performance of the organization against the requirements, tax implications, and any special provisions affecting operations. You will establish administrative controls and reporting criteria to ensure systems, processes and reporting comply with business and regulatory requirements.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manages the financial administration of a business organization or specialized department.
- Manages organizational objectives and exercises control over progress toward goals.
- Manages the preparation of internal, external, and regulatory reports related to financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis as required.
- Ensures reports comply with applicable regulatory agency requirements and consolidates financial disclosure notes for inclusion in external reports, as necessary.
- May be responsible for the business services group and serve as the financial communications center for the Division/Special Operation/Service. Manages the preparation of overhead budgets and forecasts, project financial reports, studies, and projections.
- Provides liaison with Management Information Services and the Division Controller.
- Manages financial control systems.
- Interfaces frequently with customers on several topics and issues related to Business Management, internal and external audits, and other transactional groups (e.g., A/P, Billing, Payroll).
- Establishes administrative controls and reporting criteria for all service functions in accordance with established Bechtel policies and procedures, client requirements, and applicable governmental regulations.
- Interprets the financial and business requirements of the existing contract(s) and monitors the performance of the organization against the requirements, tax implications and any special provisions affecting operations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of organizational structure, policies and procedures.
- Experience and proficiency in basic accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing and financial accounting. Skill in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting.
- Excellent skills in working with and communicating effectively orally and in writing with internal and external personnel.
- Very proficient in computer applications and common software products. Able to develop complex spreadsheets with complex formulas, macros and ad hoc report writing.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial issues including an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and techniques.
- Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization and manage complex high-volume activities.
- Requires working knowledge of computer systems operations as applied to accounting functions at larger projects.
- Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling complex financial issues/problems.
- Experience in supervisory activities such as distribution and control of work, performance evaluation, coaching, interviewing, and training and development of personnel
- Experience and proficiency in basic accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing, and financial accounting. Skill in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting.
- Prior Oracle Financials experience and proficiency with MS office suite (Excel, Power Bi, Business Objects and Co-Pilot).
