Job Overview:

This position is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will work on various projects as part of the NS&E Engineering services team. The projects that will be assigned involve government work throughout various sectors, including DOD and DOE. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.


Role Overview:

This role will support design development of Mechanical systems and equipment (including HVAC and fire protection) by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, mini-specifications, data sheets, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.  Work with estimating, mechanical engineers and other technical disciplines in a team environment.  This position is anticipated to require travel to project jobsites betwen 25 and 50% of the time.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Development P&IDs
  • Perform formal calculations
  • Prepare equipment datasheets and mini-specifications
  • Execute to schedule requirement while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related), from an accredited university, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, P&IDs, calculations, and specifications for Mechanical systems and equipment on power plants, refineries or chemical process facilities.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • US citizenship required.  No dual citizenship.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, as well as Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles.
  • Obtainment of Engineering in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering in USA within 12 months of hire


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in execution center environment and demonstrated flexibility in work assignments.
  • MS degree in Mechanical or related Engineering, from an accredited university.
  • Passed Engineering in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering Examination in USA
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
  • Possess an active security clearance or ability to obtain one upon hire.
