As a member of Bechtel’s Communities of Expertise (COE) organization, the Manager of Organizational Development will report to the COE Manager of Talent Management and will provide subject matter expertise in organizational development and change management. The primary focus will be on developing strategies and high-level design for organizational development programs, organizational design, change management, and performance management.

Detailed responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • Lead the development and sustainment of a comprehensive enterprise change management strategy and methodology for talent management programs.
  • Design and develop change strategies, programs, tools and processes to accelerate awareness, adoption and ownership within the organization.
  • Lead the development and sustainment of performance management strategy and ensure that it supports BGI priorities; manage ongoing program evaluation.
  • Consult with Human Resources leadership, project teams, and key stakeholders to enable business results through effective people change methods.
  • Collaborate with enterprise leaders to influence the direction of culture-related programs (e.g., customer centric culture).
  • Set organizational development direction for an enterprise-wide approach for diagnosing OD/culture issues, developing interventions, and evaluating effectiveness of OD interventions.
  • Develop organizational development strategies (e.g., standards for alignment sessions, zippering plans, team building assessment use based on project stage) to establish and maintain positive customer relationships from prospecting through project execution.
  • Analyze data from internal and external research utilizing tools, metrics, and statistical knowledge to interpret and recommend solutions.
  • Leverage employee feedback and company culture, when translating innovative solutions to support the company’s overall organizational development strategy.
  • Use best practice teamed with practicality to identify business need for continuous improvement of the organizational development programs, reviewing periodically and recommending adjustment.
  • Conduct ongoing research of leading external practices, maintaining strong SME networks (conference boards, professional memberships) in assisting development of internal capability.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to identify major business unit changes/challenges impacting organizational development and culture.
  • Consults with Talent Management Delivery team to identify organizational development approaches for challenging issues.


Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Psychology, OCM, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with increasing responsibility over time or five years of additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in similar roles in organizational development/organizational change management
  • Experience applying empirical research and practical knowledge of Organizational Development, Performance Management, and/or Organizational Change Management in a global organization.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and management skills, ability to influence without authority and negotiate effectively.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize conflicting demands, deal with complexity and manage multiple deliverables.
  • Working efficiently with the root cause of any situation, remaining open to all ideas and options that will achieve the best results for end user and the company.
  • Always seeks out others’ opinions and input where relevant and is open-minded to their views. Challenges others appropriately, and open to being challenged on their own views.
  • Excellent executive presence, credible with employees at every level, develops relationships built on trust, integrity, and approachability.
  • Experience communicating across all levels and audiences with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Innovative mindset and curiosity to learn about internal and external industry trends.
  • International travel 10-15% of time may be a requirement of the position.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Change management certification (ADKAR, Prosci).
  • Advanced degree in related specialization area.
