Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Functional Information and Innovation Manager to provide functional leadership, governance, and strategic direction for Information Management, Innovation an AI capabilities across the Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Global Business Unit. 

 

The M&T GBU delivers complex, world‑class capital projects supporting semiconductor manufacturing, advanced materials, electric vehicles, life sciences, and data center markets. This role is a senior functional leadership position responsible for shaping, governing, and scaling Bechtel’s Innovation and AI portfolio and implementing information lifecycle management practices across multiple projects and regions. 

 

The Functional Information and Innovation Manager lead the functional Information Management, Analytics, and Innovation disciplines ensuring alignment with Bechtel standards, client requirements, and evolving business needs. The role partners closely with GBU leadership, GBU and projects functions to drive measurable improvements in safety, productivity, schedule certainty, quality, and cost performance through information and innovation.Shape 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the GBU innovation portfolio, including opportunity identification, prioritization, business case development, piloting, and scaling. 
  • Partner with functional and project leadership to embed innovation into core work processes. 
  • Guide adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., automation, AI/ML, advanced analytics, digital workflows) where they deliver measurable business value. 
  • Define, maintain, and govern GBU‑level strategies, roadmaps, standards, procedures, and execution frameworks for information and digital delivery. 
  • Establish and oversee governance models, performance metrics, KPIs, and maturity benchmarks for information and innovation capabilities. 
  • Oversee data governance, data quality, security, and lifecycle management in accordance with Bechtel policies and contractual requirements. 
  • Ensure alignment between information management practices and project execution, engineering, construction, and commissioning processes. 
  • Lead the development and implementation of the GBU functional metrics framework and dashboards 
  • Lead the partnership with functions to develop AI requirements and scopes. Develop and provide a training program to functions and business super users to develop AI solutions to solve business challenges.  
  • Provide functional support to projects, proposals, and pursuits related to information, innovation and AI delivery 
  • Lead the development of communications and marketing material for individual initiatives or win themes that exemplify the benefits of Bechtel’s AI program. 
  • Lead the implementation of external-facing AI marketing material for proposals, conferences, and customer presentations. 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline and 15+ years of relevant experience, including EPC project delivery; or 19+ years of relevant experience in Information Management, Digital, Automation, Analytics, or Innovation leadership without a degree. 

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum 10+ years of EPC project experience. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influence skills across global, cross‑functional teams. 
  • Experience with Design Thinking, Lean, or Continuous Improvement methodologies. 
  • Strong understanding of project workflows across design, construction, project controls, and handover processes. 
  • Excellent communication skills—oral, visual, and written—with experience presenting complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to evolving needs, and work across diverse geographic regions and business lines. 
  • Experience facilitating workshops, meetings, or ideation sessions and ensuring follow-through on decisions and actions. 
  • Display a high level of business acumen and strong communication skills to deliver effectively to all levels of the organization including to external entities. 
  • Demonstrates curiosity, self-learning, and complex problem-solving skills.
